This album is an instant classic!!!It brings out a side a Mariah Carey you don't get too much..I'm speechless!!!

When Mariah Released this amazing album at september 17th 1997 i gave birth to my babyboy and i bought this album few days later. Butterfly is Mariah´s most personal album to date and to me is her newest masterpiece The Emancipation Of Mimi a follow up To Butterfly because it´s so similar the songs are alike and sounds more now. Mariah worket for the very last time with her co-writer-producer Mr.Walter Afanasieff(47)Whom is known for her biggest hits Hero,Without You,Love Takes Time,Can´t Let Go,I´ll Be there,One Sweet Day,Forever,and 6 songs from this album as for the no#1hitMy All and the album version Butterfly. My favorit songs from this beautiful album are Honey,My All,Breakdown,Close My Eyes,Whenever you call,Babydoll and Outside. Mariah and Walter A are still good friends but they haven´t teamed up together since 1997 and the ballad from her illfaded movie Lead The Way is a song they wrote in 1997 and Mariah used it for her Glitter soundtrack.

Mariah´s 6th studio album Butterfly has a message it is about Mariah her story and escaping from hubby husband Tommy Mottola. Butterly isn´t a good album most of the songs are boring. The only good songs here are the ballads and Honey. Honey feat P-Diddy is a catchy RN,B song and Mariah´s 13th number #1single. My All a spanish lush ballad just sweet and listenable also a no#1single. Butterly very sad ballad the album version,Mariah cries in the video.I realy love this song. The Roof this is boring song it doesn´t infect me. Fourth Of july a sweet summer song like Petals from Rainbow not good though. Breakdown feat Bone thugs and Harmony very catcy like Honey. Babydoll just dull and boring don´t like this song. Close My eyes a slow song on Mariah´s lower tones it´s okey. Whenever You call something tells me this is a remake of When I Saw You from Daydream. Fly Away reprise of Butterfly should have been a Club mix. The Beautiful Ones a 7 minutes long song and just boring not my favorit i´ve heard Mariah do much better. Outside a nice ballad very similar as I Am Free from Daydream. 2 Honey remix songs both ok. This album could have been much better it is over produced and Mariah sounds raspy in the ballads like she is struggling to reach the high notes. Collabotators. Walter Afanasieff on 6 songs the ballads is done by him,Cory Rooney(Babydoll,Beautiful Ones,Outside)P Diddy Honey,Breakdown.Tone and poke The Roof.

This CD I think is Mariah's Best, then followed by Charmbracelet!!! I really enjoyed listening to it the whole year of 97 and 98, my favorite songs are Honey, Butterfly, The Roof, My All, Breakdown, and Whenever You Call. People you have got to get this one and add it to your music collection, It's worth it!

This is one of the best CDs I own, by one of my favorite artists, Mariah Carey. It's R&B sounds and hip-hop-like grooves throughout the beautiful ballads, smooth mid-tempos, cool uptempos and gorgeous slow jams keep me listening to it straight through. The best tracks are #1, #2, #6, #8, #9 and #12. Please buy this album as quickly as you can!

Butterfly is Mariah´s last masterpiece and it shows us how great she was the songs on this album is similar as on Daydream Ballads and Hip-Hop with PoP sound to it my fave songs on this album are Honey,My All,Butterfly,Breakdown,Whenever You Call,Close My Eyes and Outside the other songs are nothing special but ok.Butterfly is great album its diffirent than her previews albums in the 1990´s Emotions,Music box and daydream and these albums are my fave Mariah albums with the debut album after Butterfly Mariah began getting worse her awesome writingskills and the beautiful voice of hers began fating away listen to her now her voice isn´t as powerful as it once was but i hope she will return with stronger album next time and powerful because she can belt out her voice if she wants Mariah why are you hiding your beautiful voice i can´t understand it.Mariah works with Walter Afanasieff(Celine Dion) on 6 songs on this album Sean P Combs on 2 Tone and Poke 1,Cory Rooney(Jennifer Lopez,Marc Anthony)3.

Upon its release, Butterfly was interpreted as Mariah Carey's declaration of independence from her ex-husband and label president Tommy Mottola, and to a certain extent, that's true. Butterfly is peppered with allusions to her troubled marriage and her newfound freedom, and the music is supposed to be in tune with contemporary urban sounds instead of adult contemporary radio. Nevertheless, it feels like a Mariah Carey album, which means that it's a collection of hit singles surrounded by classy filler. What is surprising about Butterfly is the lack of up-tempo dance-pop. Apart from the Puffy Combs-produced "Honey," Butterfly is devoted to ballads, and while they...
