All Music Guide - David Jeffries
Former Everything But the Girl member and now DJ Ben Watt maintains the high-quality control on Vol. 4 of the mix series that focuses on his house music label Buzzin' Fly. The disc seamlessly glides along like a subdued Deep Dish mix and the ever-growing importance of tech in Watt's house is on display with bleeps and bloops echoing on many of the tracks. A highlight among all this worthwhile material is the label owner's own mix of "Silver Ponds" by the Danish pop band the Figurines who are the first signees to Buzzin's new sister label, Strange Feeling. Also new but less successful are the spoken word bits that are mixed into the first and last tracks. They come from Watt's Outspoken series of spoken word vs. dance music EPs that are conceptually interesting but not entirely successful. Luckily, they're short and don't ruin this deep, smooth, and otherwise tasteful run through Buzzin's catalog.
