Midwest Book Review
Dashiell Loveless' By The Balls is a bowling alley murder mystery in the style of 1940s vintage pulp novels and follows detective Ben Drake as he investigates the bizarre murder of bowling hero Gentleman Joe Biggs. By The Balls is designed in the style of those "mapback" mysteries of the pulp era once published as Dell "keyhole" mysteries, and showcases the cover art and 13 full-page interior illustrations by graphic artist Paul Pope. By The Balls is classic hard-boiled detective fiction reminiscent of Mike Hammer, Sam Spade and Phillip Marlowe. Highly recommended.

This is an absolute gem of a book. I enjoyed reading and re-reading it. It is well written with great characters and situations. Would love to see this as a movie. Hope these two will keep writing so I will have something soooo enjoyable to read. I am so happy that there are young new writers that have captured the voice of past mysteries and have done it so well.
