    not bad but lacking details

this books isn't bad in introducing you to c++ but it's not for dummies. You have to puzzle most of the stuff out yourself as davis speeds through most of the items covered. I found myself tinkering with the included sample code to see what happens if I did this or I did that. Davis just doesn't include enough examples or explanations in this book. If you like puzzles and figuring out stuff on your own, this is the book to get. Otherwise get another book on C++. I found some of the limited tutorials on-line more explanatory than this book. Overall disappointing.
