Overview

The C.S. Lewis Bible pairs thought-provoking meditations from C.S. Lewis’s spiritual writings with corresponding passages from the authoritative NRSV Bible. This one-of-a-kind Bible for devotional reading, reflection, and inspiration is perfect for readers of Lewis’s Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, or his other works of seminal Christian writing. Fans of Lewis’s widely-beloved allegorical fantasy series, the Chronicles of Narnia, will love this chance to engage with the author’s more deeply spiritual side after reading favorites like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Editorial Reviews

The New Yorker
“This NRSV edition can survive beyond the Sunday-school classroom or hotel nightstand; the reader walks away with a greater appreciation for Lewis’s oeuvre, and may even pick up a thing or two from the Good Book in the process.”
United Methodist Reporter
For longtime admirers of Lewis—or those just awakened to his contributions through the Narnia films—[The C.S. Lewis Bible] would make a welcome addition to enrich personal devotional times.

I enjoy so much the quotations by C. S. Lewis scattered throughout between the chapters and books of this Bible. The print is easy to read and the hardcover has the highest quality paper I've seen for decade. My only problem with this is that when I highlight favorite passages I'll have to do that in a different Bible, because I haven't the heart to mark up the pages in the C. S. Lewis Bible. I first read C. S. Lewis's books when I was 15 years old, beginning with the space trilogy, then Mere Christianity and Screwtape Letters. I'm 68 years old now and am reading/rereading all his works. I became a Christian at the age of 22 -- but it was C. S. Lewis who opened my mind up to thinking about the possibility of the spiritual realm and philosophy and religion and God and of the unseen world(s). C. S. Lewis's quotes are always so logical and provocative and it's wonderful to be able to read his thoughts occasionally as I study the Bible.

I highly recommend this Bible. The NRSV is a clear translation of Holy Scripture with additional footnotes. The quotes (and notes) throughout this Bible are excerpts from C.S. Lewis's many popular works, such as: The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity, The Great Divorce and also many unfamiliar works of Lewis's (ex: Letters to Malcolm and The Weight Of Glory). These excerpts compliment and explain philosophically and theologically many difficult areas of scripture. This Bible is a must have for the consummate reader of the Word of God and C.S. Lewis.

We all need a version of the Bible on our NOOKs. The NRSV is the best learned Bible with C S Lewis's commentaries as you read. You can get around this Bible electronically faster than you can with a Bible in your hands.

Easy to go from chapter to chapter and book to book. I really enjoy the C.S. Lewis devotionals that are scattered through the scriptures.
