Cactus was the epitomy of kick butt in your face powerhose blues based rock. The line up was incredible. I was fortunate to see them live on two occasions....still the best shows I have ever seen....30 years later. Guitarist Jimmy MCcarty is still in the Detroit area heading an EXCELLENT blues band..Mystery Train. Rusty Day unfortunately has passed away. Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert are still very active musicians. Everybody should give then a listen...you will then appreciate the influence they still bring to bear in the music world. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Cactus was considered a hard rock band in their day. They were an incredible burst of energy from open to close. Rusty Day, the lead singer and harmonica player, would get anyone and everyone on their feet. Jim McCarty played electric guitar as well as anyone you've ever heard. Tim Bogert on bass and Carmine Appice on drums, were the rhythm section and driving background voices for the Vanilla Fudge. With Cactus they didn't have much chance for the sweetness they used with VF, but this band was one of the biggest wall of sound you could ever hear. They were the epitome of how a live band should have performed. They were at the Isle of Wight concert. They were included on the 2 or 3 record set along with Mountain and Ten Years After. Buy this CD, and you will have the essence of the band. Unfortunately, that's all that is left. Their original albums were still available as imports, at import prices. But this band was very unassuming and non-capitalistic. That was their essence!!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
