More than 50 years after World War II, cadet nurses tell their stories about how they helped win the war on the home front by serving in hospitals during the worst nurse shortage in hisotry. Recalling what it was like to serve their country, these women share touching historical and personal stories about their experiences. As the largest group of uniformed women to serve their coutnry, cadet nurses recall events during a time of world war, a time when nursing students lived together in nurse residencies, when the boys went off to war, and when cadets cared for the civilians at home and those who returned after being injured in battle.

Excellent oral history of the Cadet Nurse Corps. The creation of the Corps had a huge impact on medical care in the 40's and for decades to follow. Highly recommened.
