Best Historian when in comes to warfare in aancient times.

Theodoore Dodge is not an aurthor who writes biographies contrary to popular belief, he specifically focuses on the campaigns and military aspects of the careers of those of whom he writes. That being said, i have found him to be the greatest modern day ancient historian when it comes to military matters. A phenominal aurthor.

Before i bought this book for my nook i owned and still do five copies of this book. This historian gets extremly in depth when it comes to military aspects and will ommit very large portions in his biogrophries as to the actual life of the person, and turn his focus fully onto the subjects military campaigns.

When you are done reading a book written by theodore Dodge you will have extensive knowledge of military terminology and knowing of all the little sorts of details that the ancients had to apply in war. But I cannot stress enough this book is not a biography on ceaseer but rather his military campaigns. an excellent biography on ceaser would be Caeser by phillip freedman.
