The brevity and tone of this book are indications that the author,Kevin Long, wrote this as an ode to himself. For much of the first half of the book he tells his story of how he got to where he is now, which makes for good reading. Then when he reaches his current title,"batting coach" of the NY Yankees his tone changes from humble to almost sounding responsible for the success of Yankee hitters.Even though most of these players have been well established before he even sniffed the big leagues.Cage Rat is a decent book worthy of a weekend read if you don't feel like starting anything else.Funny how I finished this book the same day Derek Jeter reached 3,000 career hits.
