Loved it! Be sure to read Sharp Change (Black Meadow #1) first.

Loved it! Be sure to read Sharp Change (Black Meadow #1) first. Great continuation of the Black Meadow Pack! In this book we get to meet more of the pack, mostly focusing on Riel (aka Ry), Troy, and Kane, but with blasts of the past with Sophia, Chase and their twins. Of course we have to bring in some new mostly human blood too! The story pulls you in and keeps in interested. Between all the hot love scenes and the suspense, the pages fly by. And now a little about the story...

Sam has just returned from 5 years of volunteer work - her latest stint was a one year assignment in Brazil. She loved volunteering, but tragedy has brought her home, her grandmother, Ginny, the woman who raised her has passed away. Ginny was a billionaire and has left her entire 5 billion dollar estate to Sam. She did give each of her children and grandchildren 1 million each, but they are furious. During the reading of the will (which Sam is exhausted after her long flight home and mostly snoozes through it) the relatives learn if Sam dies within 30 days, they will each get 20 million and the rest will go to charity. Now many relatives have 19 million reasons to Sam. She returns to her grandmothers house where she immediately goes to sleep. After peeping on the neighbor that night she is still exhausted when Nat, her best friend stops by the next morning. Which also leads to the first time she sees her neighbor face-to-face. It has been 5 years, but she is still attracted to him, hopefully she doesn't make a fool of herself this time - or get herself killed... give this book a try to find out all about Sam and who is after her - we know why - we just don't know who...

Favorite passage: To lose my husband, the father of my child, the only man I heave ever loved, and my mate has pushed me past the edge of living into the realm of existing. I breathe, eat, and survive, just to ensure my daughter will live, but the truth is, I can easily lay here and die. My will to live is gone, and nothing is helping to bring it back. --> this brought tears to my eyes... in a letter from Susana (Sam's mother).

Caged Heat is a sinfully erotic tale of finding the beast within

Caged Heat is a sinfully erotic tale of finding the beast within you and giving in to its desires. Samira Suarez has returned to her home after five years and she comes face to face with the man she has dreamed about since she was a teenager. Riel Karven creates fires inside Sam that she cannot extinguish. Ry has been waiting for Sam to return home for a long time. She is his mate, and it is time for him to claim her. Sam is confused. She is human, but she feels like she is in heat. Is there something that she does not know about in her past? Upon her return her grandmother left her, her estate and a boatload of money. Her other relatives are furious and want it all for themselves. Sam finds that she must protect herself from her own family and Ry is just the man for the job.

Milly Taiden has written a story that will leave you panting for more. The sensuality, the provocative descriptions, and the primal instincts will take a hold of you, and have you seeking release. Sam and Ry's intensity is off the charts, and very, very HOT! Can they withstand the inferno that is blazing between them, or will they be burnt by the flames.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't read the first in this series but I don't think it took

I didn't read the first in this series but I don't think it took away from this second story for me at all. There was really nothing in this book that I didn't like. I love books with shifters and this was no exception. Riel is as hot as can be as well as the other shifters throughout the book. I know that I certainly look forward to reading many more books by this author. My only complaint is that I wished that it was longer!! I recommend to anyone that likes steamy, shifter books.

Sam is back home. She has been traveling teaching children in third world countries. Unfortunately her homecoming is bittersweet as she is happy to be home but her grandmother has passed away. Her grandmother willed everything to Sam with the exception of the money that she left the rest of her family. A million each. With a stipulation that if Sam was to die within 30 days then everything would be split by the rest of the family. Needless to say this puts her in danger. Sam is surprised to find that her neighbor is the one guy that she can't get out of her head.

Riel knew that Sam was his mate the first time he met her 7 years ago. But she was not ready for him to claim her then. She was afraid of Shifters. But now that she is back he is not letting her get away again. When it becomes apparent that Sam is in danger he will stop at nothing to keep her safe. She is his and he won't let anyone harm her.

Such a great book! I will definitely be reading this book again. I love that there is more to Sam then meets the eye. I love the steamy scenes. This is definitely a book for adult readers. This book goes to show you that you definitely need to expect the unexpected. This is a great series! This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend reading.

Even better than the first! What¿s not to love about an Alpha

    Even better than the first!

What’s not to love about an Alpha male so committed to his heart, that he will wait patiently for his true mate to return from 5 years of volunteering in third world countries?

She didn’t want to chance rejection, and he was asked to give her some time and space to find herself. However, the attraction and chemistry has always been there between these star-crossed, not yet lovers, but a fear of the unknown and distance; has kept them apart.

But now they are reunited, and perilous dangers lurking in the dark, may destroy their chance at happiness before it even begins.

A fabulous sequel to this engrossing series! Please keep them coming Ms Taiden!

Sigh, I love a good romantic story, throw in some suspense, hot sex and its the perfect book. Caged Heat has it all! Riel is an Enforcer for the Black Meadow Pack, which we first met in Sharp Change. Samira just returned home form a 5 year stint teaching in the jungle. When Ry and Sam meet up again its instant sparks! Milly Taiden brings her characters to life in vivid detail, you fall in love with them so easy. There is no such thing as a minor character... I crave information on Troy and Kane and all of them! Chase and Sophia are back and we get to touch base and see how they are doing. I want a wolf of my own to cherish me and melt my panties! This book is a multiple underwear changing read!

    more from this reviewer

this book needs a warning label

Very often we sit down to read what we hope will be a good book. It's the second in a series, the first having been almost technical perfection in your eyes; you can only hope that this second book lives up to your expectations. Unfortunately, often times we are disappointed, left wanting for a better word. The story is missing something or you can't connect with the characters the way you did with the first. Sadly this happens more than I'd like to think of. So it was with some trepidation that I sat down with Caged Heat, book 2 in the Black Meadows Pack series by Milly Taiden. You see, Sharp Change (book 1) was the first book I read by Ms. Taiden and I devoured every word of it. I even found myself rereading it when I had nothing else on my plate. I could only hope that book 2 lived up to my high expectations of Ms. Taiden's writing.

Love, lust, sexy shifters and a mystery to solve... how could this possibly go wrong? It can't. Taiden weaves a sensually erotic tale of unrequited love and the woman who inspires it. Being a shifter, Riel has known all along that Sam is his mate but he does the right thing and let's her go. Sam needs to grow, to come in to her own, apart from her nasty family. But now after 5 years, Sam is finally home and living next door. Riel has the chance to get the one that got away to finally stand up and take notice before whoever is trying to kill her succeeds.

Although I must say I missed Taiden's quirky sense of humor, which she imbeds in every one of her stories, her unique style of writing and way with words made this reviewer stand up and notice. Was Caged Heat perfect? No. There were a couple of minor inconsistencies that only someone who has read Sharp Change several times may notice. However, that aside, Taiden wrote a heroine we would all like to know and a hero that will have you fantasizing of late nights by the pool.

It is this reviewer's opinion that Caged Heat should come with a warning...
Warning: the contents of this book will have you feeling as if you are running a fever and may cause lusting of your hot neighbor! Susias inquire within.

It¿s not often you can say something along the lines of ¿as good

It’s not often you can say something along the lines of “as good as or better than the first” when referring to a sequel.  However, this one really is just that.  It can easily be read as a standalone, because even though there’s plenty of reference to and cameos from the couple in the first book, it’s all explained in context so that it fits right in.

It’s got a few issues, mostly grammatical, but it’s enjoyable none the less.  It’s compelling and erotic enough that it kept me turning the pages to the point of reading it in one sitting.  I really loved the easy relationship that Ry and Sam fell into.  The suspense element was exciting, though a little predictable.  In the end, I can’t wait for book 3!

Caged Heat is an enthralling read that you won’t be able to put down.  If you’re looking for a steamy fun read, pick up this one up from the awesome Milly Taiden!

One thing I love about this series is that each story is complete in and of itself.  You do not need any background knowledge.  You do not need to know what came before.  Goodness, you can read them out of order and be fine.  In this book we meet Samira, a very strong and likable heroine who arrives back in the US after 5 years teaching in impoverished communities.  Unfortunately, while she was gone, she also lost her beloved grandmother who leaves her pretty much everything.  Add in a hot next door neighbor who happens to be her mate, a group of despicable relatives who all hate her and want her money, and some murder attempts and you have a super fun shifter read that will keep you glued to your ereader.
