Overview

A witch raised in a cage of darkness...

Savannah Cross was born into a life of isolation and abuse.
As a child, she witnessed her parents perform acts of malevolent evil,
and now feels permanently tainted by their dark deeds.

When a coven discovers a tear stricken child,
wounded on their elders lawn,
they offer her a sanctuary she has never known.
Savannah spends the next several years shattered,
continuously looking over her shoulder,
waiting for the darkness to claim her.

On her 16th birthday,
Savannah’s life takes a drastic turn.
She is consumed by overwhelming power
that forever alters her emotionally and physically.

She must choose between two loves;
the one who taught her to smile
or the darkly seductive stranger who tempts her towards another path.
Savannah must decide between the coven that was her haven
and another one vying for her initiation.
Just as Savannah begins to grasp what fate has in store for her,
an evil looms over her loved ones;
coming to claim an unbreakable debt.

How will she survive the greatest evil she has ever witnessed… long enough to have a choice to make?

Editorial Reviews

I fully recommend reading this and if you feel a little uneasy about it once you're done, jump into the sequel because it is 100% worth it. I can't wait to see what happens in Caged in Spirit. If this series keeps going in the direction that the sequel hinted at I think it may become a favorite of mine.
Goodreads - Nicole Rae
The characters are described in such a way that they come to life on the page and walk right into your heart. Savannah has lived a life that no person should have to go through. However she is strong and has will that I admire. Her friends, Willow and Izzy are great additions that help enhance the story and give it more depth. Liam is a character you love to hate. Ash is sexy with a dry sense of humor and Maye is the mother we all wish we had.

Lately, I have been reading lukewarm novels that have left me feeling as if I should avoid books by new author for a while. Boy, am I glad I didn’t do it! I read Caged in Darkness in one sitting. I loved it and was extremely impressed with the writing of J.D. Stroube. She writes in such a way that elicits empathy for her characters and their plights. It's filled with griping suspense, intrigue, and mystery. I cannot wait for the sequel, Caged by Damnation. It promises another wild ride.
Goodreads - Chloe Woods Reviews
When I read this book, I was WOWED by the intensity of the author's written work. It was a fast-paced novel that practically made me clutch the book till the end. This was an exciting read!
Goodreads - Heather's Reviews
Caged in Darkness is a book that takes you on a emotional ride. It has it all such as a thought provoking plot, yummy male leads, amazing action scenes and pent up romance that will have you turning the pages for more. They will find themselves laughing, crying and worrying right along with them (I sure did!). If you haven't picked this book up yet or bought it, please do!! You don't want to miss this astonishing read!

    WTF

I dont curse ever but what happened to the ending. I mean really after all the build up, the ending was rushed and really stupid. The book was great until the last 10 pgs or so. I wanted to punch the autjor for having the story end like she gave up on the story..

    Awesome read!

I loved this book! It was thrilling from page 1. This book was really interesting and the story quite well written. It was never a dull moment and I thought it was interesting how she struggle with her feelings and the confusion for they brought when she found she is attracted to two guys one Light and one Dark. But the truth is of course so much more complicated than that.

There is a lot happening in Savannah´s life in this book and even though I loved the story, the ending was a bum. I really did not like the ending but if the sequel fix the ending then I am okay with it. I really like Savannah. She is such a strong character and so is her friend Willow even though it takes the whole book for her to realize that.

It was a great read that I recommend for others to read.

    Yes, It's A Must Read!!!

This is an easy read with some fresh ideas that makes this book stand out from what is found on the shelves today. It's witches, ghosts, demons & even more in Savannah Cross's complicated life. After escaping from the cage she's been in for the 1st 9yrs of her life by her evil parents, Savannah is taken in by a wonderful kind witch. She finds herself in the coven that her parents had been banished from years ago for practicing dark witchcraft. Here she comes into her full powers on her 16th birthday. She then falls in love with 2 very different young men, is forced to face & hopefully kill one of the devils own favorite demons who is killing her friends & neighbors and faces some unexpected twists & turns in her new life as an extrememly powerful young witch. The ending alone is well worth the read in this the 1st book of the "Caged" series by this imaginative new author.

    A fast and enjoyable read

I found Caged in Darkness a fast and enjoyable read and would recommend it to anyone that is a fan of Young Adult Paranormal. I would say that Caged in Darkness leans more toward the Urban Fantasy than Romance even though there is a element of romance between some of the characters.

    A Fresh New Perspective

Caged in Darkness is a book you won't want to put down. It's a fresh new perspective on witches, love, and the fight between lightness an darkness. I can't wait until the next book in the series comes out! I have fallen in love with Savannah!

    Review:
I want to start off by saying "Wow", I was unable to put the book down until I found out what happened and how they were done! I mean it! I had to push back my shower (which I normally take while kids are napping)!!!!

This is a story about a young girl who was born a witch. Her mother and her father, who once was good witches, had gotten addicted to the power and became dark witches. When this happened they caged Savannah in a caged, would only let her out to bath when they couldn't take the smell anymore, just neglect her all together. When Savannah was 9 she escaped and found her self where her parents where once in a coven at. Savannah is taken in and taken care of. Weeks before her 16th birthday, Savannah discovers things from her past that might change her future for the worst.

I was not sure I would like this book. I was kinda skeptic on the whole Wiccan idea, thought it would be like a Charmed or The Craft and didn't think someone could live up to them. Well... I loved this book! I have already added her next book to my list to purchase! There was some notion to sex.. but nothing a Mature teenager would be "harmed" by if they read.
All authors have a style to them in their writing that you have to get used to before you get in the flow of the book. I did not have any problems here! And in note to the ending... it was like a BAM... but it just game me more reasons to get the next book.... every story or movie has a ending to make you want to get or watch the next one.

    loved it
the main lead female, Savanna, suffers in her childhood from abuse and torture from her parents but she grows into a strong character.
there sure are no dull moments from start to finish and it was hard to put down once I started this book and the action got under way.
throughout the entire book I felt like I was Savanna and everything she encountered so did I.
this is a must read for all paranormal romance readers.

I've read both this and the sequel. Having read further into the series, I think the ended of the first novel was ingenious! Honestly, it bothered me at first, but now I get it. It's kind of like taking a puzzle and dumping them onto a table. If you put the pieces together you're not going to be satisfied since you only have a small version of the grand scheme. The ended to the first book was the same. It was great, but when compared with the next book... Let me just say that I can't wait to get more!
