Everything a student needs to succeed in one place. Student Study-Pack contains:
Student Solutions Manual
Fully worked solutions to odd-numbered exercises
CD Lecture Videos
A comprehensive set of videos, tied to the textbook, in which examples are worked out by an instructor. The videos provide excellent support for students who require additional assistance, for distance learning and self-paced programs, or for students who missed class.
Pearson Tutor Center
Tutors provide one-on-one tutoring for any problem with an answer at the back of the book. Students access the Tutor Center via toll-free phone, fax, or e-mail.
Built from the ground up by David Schneider (University of Maryland), Visual Calculus enhances the visualizations and therefore the understanding of the ideas behind the calculus. With this software students can: analyze a function and its derivatives, examine solutions of differential equations, graph functions, calculate definite integrals, evaluate finite and infinite sums, graph Taylor approximations, plot cosine and sine functions and much more. Find Visual Calculus in MyMathLab and the CD Lecture Videos.

This Study Pack comes with four items: a Study Guide, two CD Lecture Videos, and a code for Tutoring. The Study Guide, is supposed to include "Fully worked solutions to odd-numbered exercises," however, this is not the case. Many odd solutions are in the book, but many are not. Example: for Chapter/Section 1.1, there are only solutions to problems 1, 7, 13, 19, 25, 31, 37, 43, 49, 55, 61 and 67. Each section in the Study Guide skips around like this. Also, sometimes there are typos, which if you ask me, is completely inexcusable in a math book.
As for the two CDs, they do include examples worked out by an instructor, and he does explain these examples pretty clearly. However, he usually goes over only a few examples, and usually he goes over the easier stuff, rather than the more difficult problems that students more likely need help with.
Lastly, this Study Pack is also advertised as including a code that grants you access to the Pearson Tutor Center. I never used the tutor center, however, on Pearson's Tutor Center Website for math at http://www.pearsontutorservices.com/math.html it states that a student can call up to three times a night, and can have up to 15 minutes per call. That's it. So hopefully, that's all you need. But like I said, I never used this service, so I can't exactly rate it.
I think there are many improvements to be made for this Study Pack, but I gave it two stars because it did help me a few times this semester. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

In the advertising for this 'Student Study Pack', and even on the back of the packaging, it states, 'Fully worked solutions to odd-numbered exercises.' Not true. There are only solutions to every 6th exercise...For example, the first section has solutions for #s 1...7...13...19, etc.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
