Janice Del Negro
When Rosy Rodriguez opens the wrong bottle in her mother's Vermont magic shop, she releases an "impus mischevious," all revved up and looking for trouble. The imp stows away in a Christmas present headed for California, where, in the guise of "Mr. Ed" the genie, he disrupts the lives of Danny and Laura Pauling. Back in Vermont, Rosy and her mother, a practitioner of "the craft" of white magic, are desperately trying to locate the imp before he causes serious trouble. All ends well, with the imp being sent where he belongs, Danny and Laura's estranged parents talking about reconciling, and Rosy happily learning "the craft" and anticipating the possibility of two boyfriends. Singer's breezy style suits the lighthearted chase, and her easygoing, enjoyable characters move along at an easygoing, enjoyable pace.
