I really don't know where to begin! I love to backroad and my poor Isuzu 4x4 has seen many tough times. Thanks to this book things have become even tougher for the truck! Every weekend I choose a different location in the Anza Borrego, Death Valley, or Mojave areas using my trusty 'California Desert Byways' as my guide. The instructions are great as long as you remember that they are given from a starting point SOUTH of the deserts. (I've been lost once or twice.) There are a variety of difficulty ranges and the rating system is consistent. From the routes I have taken, 'Easy' reflects washboard-like terrain, 'Moderate' is washboard with some more technical spots and a rougher terrain overall, and 'Difficult' should only be attempted in a 4x4. The author gives great gearing recommendations and offers some history of various locations as well as includes good advice on saftey. This book would most be appreciated by someone with a 4x4 truck and is a great book for a beginning 4x4 truck or SUV 4x4 driver. If you love to be outdoors and enjoy the desert, this is a terrific book for you!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
