We left Anna Percy at the end of BEAUTIFUL STRANGER deciding if she should be spontaneous and follow Logan onto the plane and fly to Bali the week before she was due to head to freshman orientation at Yale.
Now, Anna has thrown all caution to the wind and has made a mad dash to the airport. With no luggage, and chucking her shoes that weren't equipped for sprints, she runs down the jet-way to board the awaiting plane. Anna is the last passenger to board, and she's not even sure that Logan is on-board the plane. For the last eight months while Anna has been living in California with her father, she has tried to shed the reserved exterior that everyone sees. She came to California in the hopes of reinventing herself and to quit thinking everything through before she acts.
Anna finds her seat and is relieved to find Logan ensconced in first class. He is pleased to see Anna, and the two sit back, ready to enjoy the impulsive flight to Bali. But things soon turn into a nightmare. The captain makes an announcement that the hydraulics for the landing gear have malfunctioned, and they have to return to LA and attempt to land on the belly of the plane. Anna immediately regrets her impulsiveness, knowing that her attempt to be carefree has caused the malfunction. Unable to contact her father, the only person Anna is able to reach is her dear friend, Sam.
Anna and Logan arrive in LA safely amid friends and family, all relieved to see their safe return. But the flight makes Anna start to reevaluate her future plans. Does she really want to spend the next four years locked into Yale? Does she want to try flying to Bali with Logan again in a few days? These are questions that plague Anna over the course of the next week, when her decision must be made.
On the other hand, we have Sam, who has also made an impulsive decision¿she has accepted Eduardo's marriage proposal and they are to be wed in one week's time. Sam is an absolute wreck and her friend Dee has come to the rescue. Unknown to everyone, including Dee, Dee has a real knack for coordinating all the wedding plans and helps Sam bring everything together. But Sam is torn. Does she give up her dream of attending USC's infamous film school to follow Eduardo back to Paris?
All of these questions and others concerning Cammie, Dee, Ben, Adam, Jackson Sharpe, Sam's mom, Dina, and others come to a (tentative?) resolution. Ms. Dean seems to tie up everyone's future nicely by the end of the story. The action starts quickly and leaves the reader with a pounding heart, praying Anna and Logan come out safely from their flight. And Ms. Dean leaves the reader guessing up until the end what the wedding will entail. I enjoyed this story more than the last couple and am already eagerly waiting for her new era of A-List teens in HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY, due out in January 2009.

California Dreaming A-List # 10 Zoey Dean Little, Brown and Company 978-0-316-11353-3 This is the final installment of Anna, Cammie, Sam, and Dee’s journey. ‘California dreaming’ was a great finale to a great series. It starts out with heart pumping adrenaline and life changing scenes and ends with calming but yet life-changing scenes. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't wait to turn the page and find out what would happen next if you have followed the series and have loved the characters you absolutely need to read this book because it is phenomenal and it gives you a great ending to the characters you love so much. The cover of ‘California dreaming’ is beautiful showcasing the Beverly Hills Hotel, a black sleek sports car, and a pretty blonde girl in a green dress, with a smile that would light up any room. That really draws in the reader not only is it a good cover to fit with the story but I think overall it would make anyone pick it up and read what it’s about. So in this book we see our entire favorite A-List characters, slowly turn into adults. The book starts off with where the last book left off which is a tad bit different from the other books that tended to skip a few weeks in time. This is Anna on the plane, which doesn’t exactly go good for her. It takes a life or death turn, which catches the eye of everyone else after that everyone really starts to do some hardcore thinking on what they really want to do with their lives and their futures. They are all looking at the fact that life could end tomorrow so they really need to figure out what to do. With big decisions in store for the group like whether Anna’s going to go to Yale or Bali, whether Sam wants to get married and go to Paris to stay and go to USC, Cammie’s decision of what to do with Adam and the club her and Ben have pulled together. You really have no idea what anyone is going to choose. There is a lot of drama in the final installment but it’s more of an adult level of drama. They are trying to figure things out about themselves and their future and that is a new side to all of them. For example Anna’s path has been laid out for her from the beginning; Yale was her destination since she could talk. Yet in this book she is really considering not going to Yale at all. It’s very intriguing and emotional to watch her go through all of these events that led up to her final decision. It’s like that for almost all the main characters in this book. Although there were a few typos just like with all the other books, it was a really great read. ‘California Dreaming’ made me laugh and cry. It was an emotional roller coaster and I loved it! There were heart wrenching moments and moments of pure joy. All around it was a beautifully written book and a perfect ending to the characters stories.

California Dreaming is the tenth novel in Zoey Dean's series, The A-List. All the same characters are back. Anna is still conservative and strongly blue-blooded. The only difference? She becomes a little more free spirited after meeting Logan in the previous book. The whole book has a theme of crazy on the spot thinking. Sam Sharpe, movie star, Jackson's daughter has been seeing Eduardo. Now she has to make a decision that will change her life forever and may tear her away from her life long dream of being an award winning film maker. Ever since recovering from her breakdown earlier in the series, Dee has channeled her negative energy into positive things, willing to assist Sam in her time of need. Cammie of course is still Cammie. Devious, stunning, and spontanious. Cammie has always secretly wanted what Anna Percy has had. Now she just might get her chance..... The is probably in my opinion the best book of the series. Its got everything every teenage girl loves to read about: fashion, drama, and money. I love Zoey Dean and the whole A-List series. It is an inside look into how the other side of the coast lives. The lives we all secretly wish we had we can read about. in a way, most girls can relate to how they live. There is always some sort of drama going on in the life of a high school girl. There may not be as much as in these books, but to say the least it is pretty close. I hope there is another book that comes out in the series. The A-List is a great book for any girl of all ages to read.

having had read all of the a-list novels, i thought california dreaming was just as good as all the others. i think it wrapped up the storyline in a way that left me both satisfied and yearning for more. i would defidently recommend it to anyone i knew who likes teen stories that have both romance and comedy. the only reason why i didnt give it five stars is because i like to cry with books, and i didnt with this one, which to some would make them like it more.

I'm an avid reader, and the A-List is one of my favorite series. I have really enjoyed most of the books. There were a few that I lost interest in, but thats not bad for nine books in the series. I finished reading them anyway, and the ends always make you want to know what happens next. I am very excited for the tenth book, California Dreaming, because the end of the ninth really was a cliff-hanger! April needs to hurry up and come!

Well, this ten book series has finally come to an end. A bit predictable, but very good, and i give the overall series a 5. Although the author is continuing the series, it is going to be about a whole new cast of character, and i am not sure if that is the way to go. Maybe she should start a new series if the characters are to be as complicated and compelling as Anna and Ben were. I thought they were over for sure and then randomly they don't want to be over? Not as clif-hanging as i expected, and i recommend the whole series.

I absolutely love the A list series. I usally read through books like this quickly because they are smaller, but every A list is jam packed and worth buying because of the page count and content. You will not be dissappointed if you read this series!

I love the a list series and hope that anna will finally realize that her and ben aren't meant to be. I hope that her and logan get together, they would make such a cute couple since they both come from the east coast. Although I love the whole Beverly hills setting, it is getting old. I would like the series to come to a satisfying end soon because all the waiting for the next one is driving me crazy! All good things must come to an end and the drama in this series is coming to a point where there are only so many times you can break up, get thrown in jail, or some other situation. I love this series but want a happy ending soon.
