Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Denise Hartzler
Mia and Michael Battelli want a pet more than anything. While Michael prefers a puppy, Mia longs for a kitten. Mia loves everything cats and when she finds a tiny calico injured and foraging for food she cannot focus on anything else. Mia faces her biggest challenge yet—her parents. Mia and Michael's parents do not believe the children are ready for such a responsibility. Plus they believe that their brownstone is simply too small for a pet. Will Mia and Michael be able to prove how responsible they can be for an injured kitten and change their parents' point of view? From the best-selling author of Puppy Place, Ellen Miles does it again with this new "Kitty Corner" Series. The chapters are short and the text is an easy read. More importantly, the story is engaging and realistic. Children who long for a pet will relate to the emotions accurately portrayed in Mia and Michael. Children will also learn the importance of caring for a pet and also what it means to foster an animal. Reviewer: Denise Hartzler

    Excellent chapter book for girls!

My daughters, 6 and 7 years old, both like the puppy books by Ellen Miles. We could not find any they hadn't read available for the Nook. We found this one and they both enjoyed reading it on the Nook. Though we like the Nook it does not have many chapter books available for 1-4 graders. I do not have to worry about the content of Ellen Miles books for my children.
