I received this cookbook as a wedding gift in 1990 from my aunt. It is my "go-to" cookbook, more than any other one I own. Good, down-home, Southern recipes are in abundance within these pages. I have always been grateful to my aunt for her gift that has been used probably more than any other wedding gift!

This continues to be the best cook book ever. I received it as a wedding gift in 1988. It's well worn now but continues to bring joy and love to the table every time. If you don't have it you need to get it. I can't say enough good things about it.

My wife uses this book religiously, there are many other cook books around the house, but this one is the most used at our house! Highly recommended!!

I received this cookbook as a gift from a sweet little old lady when I first married in 1990. She was a bellsouth employee and they sold these at that time, these are commonly called "Phone Company cookbooks" because Bellsouth sold them. I worked with the lady but really barely knew her and I never thought when she gave me this book that it would become my recipe bible all these years later. It is a huge cookbook with recipes for anything you could ever want to make. Lots of classic southern recipes as well as more modern ones. There are no photos or illustrations if that is important to you. My book is stained from being used so much but the binding is still tight and it has held up well for a paperback. I am buying a new one for my daughter and I would definitely recommend this for a shower gift for a newlywed or for a housewarming gift or for anyone who loves good cookbooks. I have The Joy of Cooking, Betty Crocker, Better Homes, all the popular ones but they never get used, this is the one I use every time! Can't say enough about how much I have enjoyed this book over the years.

I received this as a shower gift when I married in 1987 & it became my 'bible'! A terrific cookbook that is great for beginners, as well as advanced cooks, also.
