Great book, really lets you know the life of being a law enforcement officer

I had to read this for my Law Enforcement Academy Training (in WI (and the book takes place in WI)) and at first (since I just finished college), I dreaded having to read another book for a class (or academy in this case).

... but the book hooked me right after the first few sentences on the first page. Read page after page, chapter after chapter till I finished it in one sitting.

Its a great book that shows the parts most people won't see, or will never see, of a LE (Law Enforcement) officer. The stress and fatigue, some of the most horrendous crimes, and other situations that LE officers deal with that cause strong emotional changes in the officer - lots of this leads to officer suicide (also discussed in the book).

You get the common public that will scream "I pay your salary piggy!" quite often, then you might get a few who will thank the respectable and professional officers, then the officers handle the ones of brutal domestic violence (on a repeated basis), or a routine traffic stop (no traffic stop is ever routine, actually almost the most dangerous part of being a LE Officer) to find a gun pointed back at you.

Lots of this is in the book, and will keep you quite interested throughout. Be sure to get your hands on this, you won't regret it!

    A Florida Deputy

I did over 20 years in the Air Force as a cop and coming up on 1 year as a deputy in Florida. This was a great book to read and re-emphasized the reason I love doing this job. The worst part about the book was when I finished reading it. I would recommend this book for all cops and all ranks in our field. Thank you Lt Dan Marcou. I hope you have a book in the works for the next 5 years.

    Must Have

This book is essential for anyone who wants to be a good cop and doesn't want to be brought down by the job. It's also a breath of fresh air for everyone who has been bogged down by all the negative reports that cops have been receiving. It's nice to know that there are good cops out there who are 'doing it for all of the right reaasons.'

    required reading

This is described as a work of fiction, but having been in law enforcement for 15 years, Lt. Marcou places my thoughts, feelings and experiences on paper. While these experiences are differant from my own, at the same time they are exactly the same. As in all professions, there are always some who merely perform the job- true cops try every day to be better, and truely are the thin blue line. My hat is off to Lt. Marcou, and I recommend this book to all those interested in this career, especially those who have been doing it for years and think this is below them because they need no advice. I am purchasing additional copies for friends and certain lost officers alike.
