Overview

For years, the Clan has lived through that curse, trying and failing to break free of the shackles that hold them to it. Now, an obscure text gives five cousins hope...

Callum

His duty was all that mattered.

Callum Lennon has one goal in life: protect his cousins. His failure in the past to do just that is what drives every action. When they discover a chance for redemption, Callum is willing to try. But trusting an outsider isn't acceptable.

A woman in need of a new beginning.

An expert in archeology, Phoebe has always felt dwarfed by her parents' shadow. In college by thirteen, she's never measured up to her parents' high standards. When the Lennons contact her, she decides to take a chance...and finds herself intrigued by the most insufferable man.

A passion impossible to ignore.

One argument leads to a kiss and to an unbearable desire they cannot seem to fight. When an old enemy threatens their fragile new love, Callum will have to choose between believing his mind or trusting his heart.

Meet the Author

Born to an Air Force family at an Army hospital Melissa has always been a little bit screwy. She was further warped by her years of watching Monty Python and her strange family. Her love of romance novels developed after accidentally picking up a Linda Howard book. After becoming hooked, she read close to 300 novels in one year, deciding that romance was her true calling instead of the literary short stories and suspenses she had been writing. After many attempts, she realized that romantic comedy, or at least romance with a comedic edge, was where she was destined to be. Since her first release in 2004, Melissa has had over 30 short stories, novellas and novels released with seven different publishers in a variety of genres and time periods. In addition to her publishers, she is now enjoying the freedom self-publishing has given her. Those releases included, The Hired Hand, a 2005 Eppie Finalist for Contemporary Romance, several CAPA finals, and several AAD Bookie Nominations. Her contemporary, A Little Harmless Sex became an international best seller in June of 2005 and was one of the top 100 Nook Books sold in 2010.

Since she was a military brat, she vowed never to marry military. Alas, fate always has her way with mortals. Her husband is an Air Force major, and together they have their own military brats, two girls, and they live wherever the military sticks them. Which she is sure, will always involve heat and bugs only seen on the Animal Discovery Channel. In her spare time, she reads, complains about bugs, travels, cooks, reads some more, watches Modern Family for reference, and tries to convince her family that she truly is a delicate genius. She has yet to achieve her last goal.

Callum Lennon is a cranky, reclusive, wealthy Scot with a problem.  He and his cousins were cursed in the 1700’s.  They have recently come into possession of a diary that may contain the way to break the curse.  The problem is it is written in several languages and in code.  Enter Phoebe Chilton.  Phoebe is the daughter of famous archeologists, went to college at thirteen and is now a widow from a horrible marriage.  She does however possess the skills to decode the diary.  Sparks both good and bad fly between Phoebe and Callum from almost the instant they meet.

I’ve read and enjoyed several of Ms. Schroeder’s erotic romances.  This is not an erotic romance despite some very toasty scenes.  I’d call it romantic suspense with a paranormal feature (the curse).  That being said, I LOVED this story.  Hot Scots, action, adventure, and mystery what’s not to love?  Bring on Angus.
