Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 4-6-- Two-page chapters illustrated with full-color diagrams and photographs highlight the parts and types of cameras, plus the film and accessories needed for special effects. Of necessity, the information presented is very brief and functions only as an overview. Thus, once interest is piqued, another source must be consulted because some statements are too vague to be useful: ``At the right moment, the shutter is opened by pressing a button known as the shutter release.'' Students who develop an intense interest in photography usually go on to process their own film and prints, topics not covered in this text. Libraries with Davis's Into the Dark (Atheneum, 1979; o.p.) or Laycock's The Complete Beginner's Guide to Photography (Doubleday, 1979; o.p.) should continue to circulate them instead of purchasing this one.-- Nancy E. Curran, Decatur Public Schools, IL
