CANAPE: Covington Analysis of Need for Adapted Physical Education:
All children want to participate. Not a single child wants to be on the sidelines merely watching other children play or seeing their friends participate in organized games or sports. The CANAPE allows physical educators, teachers, special educators, parents, and SPED teams, to conduct a noncomparative, holistic, individually-centered, mindfulness guided, analysis for the need for adapted physical education.
The central theme of the CANAPE is for children to be included and benefit from physical education as well as to enjoy themselves while doing so. The 'success' of the activity is not considered, more so, the ability to participate is the highest priority. Though a child may not cognitively understand the concepts or be physically able to fully participate in some games/activities, merely being a part of the game allows for exercise, general sociability, increased sense of belonging, and successful fulfillment of physical education standards mandated by each school district.

Benefits of utilizing the CANAPE include:
CANAPE is a universal nondiscriminatory tool.
CANAPE allows for the successful review of all school aged children without using multiple age-based assessments.
CANAPE is inclusive of individual personal interests and likes and allows for student centered individualistic planning.
CANAPE Is holistically inclusive of impairments in both Sensory integration and Behavioral/emotional disability.
