Overview

Cancer has taken hold of millions of Americans with a tremendous amount of life lost. Read the positive side told by one cancer patient M.G. Evans. His recounting of the events he faced during his treatment and the humor he maintained when faced with a battle for his life. More…

“This book is a collection of emails sent to my close friends and family that account for my ability to deal with cancer and the positive outlook, even under the worst of conditions. I received so many supporting emails, cards, and calls, it is what kept me going,” M.G. (Marc) Evans.

Excerpt:

Today has been a true roller coaster ride, with many twist and turns. The day started off, or actually never ended, as usual. When you are in the hospital the nurses must check on you every few hours. I don’t know about the rest of you, but when a man walks into my room in the middle of the night I wake up. So basically between blood draws and changes in medication you get little cat naps.

Well, today I need to get a shower and cleaned up no matter if I have tubes running out of my chest like a Borg on Star Trek. So I begin to gather up what I needed when Curtis arrived and found there was no Shampoo in the room. So I called the nurse and politely asked for some Shampoo. The nice lady at the other end of the call button said, “we don’t have any”. I was floored. I said, “you don’t’ have any shampoo!” She was so nice. She told me “no” again but said they had some type of shower cap that I could use. I told her never mind that I would send Curtis down to the store to buy some for me. In a few minutes a very nice lady came to room and told me she wanted to explain why they did not have any shampoo. I told her that was OK that Curtis would go buy me some. She explained politely that this was the cancer ward and none of their patients have hair.

Holy crap!! I never even thought about that since I have not lost any of my hair. I told her I never even thought about it being the cancer ward, but I was still going to do my best to prove the doctors wrong and hang on to my hair to the bitter end.

    Highly Recommended, must read!

M.G. Evans Cancer Inc., The Half Full Side tells the positive story of one man's struggle to overcome all that is negative in his life. Cancer is one of the most devastating diseases known to man, physically debilitating, while destroying the will to live. From everything negative, however, sometimes emerges a positive element, a new outlook and attitude on life. Cancer Inc. is unique in that it is a collection of e-mails from Marc to his friends and family, relaying each step of the battle against cancer-from treatments to updated conditions. Essentially, the truly fascinating aspect of this book is the individual's ability to remain humorous and unfazed, and maintain a resolve-despite adversity in the deadliest of forms. The following is an example of Marc discussing the effects of his cancer treatment in terms of stock: "With the current economic conditions, it is good to report some favorable results in the recent medical stocks. Marc Inc. has seen a rise in some of it subsidiary holdings. Recent testing in the Pet Scan division show only localized disease in the Neck division, while all other holdings are showing a clean balance sheet." In addition, moral support has the power to change an individual's life; no matter how difficult is the climb back to normalcy. Cancer Inc., The Half Full Side is a testament to Marc's friends and family, who gave him a reason to keep fighting. Ultimately, the bridge that an individual has to cross to get from the "Patient" to "Survivor" status can seem endless, but with the quality and quantity of care and support from friends and family, this becomes a possibility. Though M.G. Evans' writing style is experimental in structure, it is certainly genuine and honest. The bottom line is that this book is not just for cancer patients, but for anyone who is facing an obstacle that they feel is insurmountable. The premise of the book is quite simple: "If in life we always look at everything as half empty, then the results will almost always be failure. It is important to find the joy and positive points in everything that we do." Cancer Inc., The Half-Full Side is a must-read page-turner for all. Readers will be glad to know that Cancer Inc. is on Barnes & Noble Nookbooks and on the publisher's website.

The latest book for the Oprah Book Club

The cover alone made me want to buy this book and read it. The courage of this man to deal with Cancer in such a positive way was truly inspiring. Not many people can find the humor in Chemo and this author has captured the real cure for cancer by keeping a positive attitude. You will find this book on the best sellers list and Oprah's book club soon.
