YES, THE BEST IS YET AHEAD

No one underestimates the difficulty of cancer, but no one should underestimate the joy and optimism that this wonderful book will impart to anyone who is involved in any way with cancer, either personally, or with a loved one or friend. As the saying goes, 'there is strength in numbers,' and strength will be gained from the messages in these poems.

    Inspiring & Hopeful

I was inspired by the stories and poetry in The Cancer Poetry Project. Each poem's author is profiled, and this demonstrates the amazing connection in the human race. Despite our role of friend, survivor or caregiver - we all share raw emotions. The book offers authentic perspectives of cancer experiences in a way that offer hope in a refreshing way. A great book to deal with my own emotions and also a non-threatening gift to those experiencing cancer.

    An Amazing Survival Manual

'The Cancer Poetry Project' is an amazing survival manual. It's not the kind of book that helps cancer patients or their families negotiate the maze that is the health-care system or the frustrations of insurance claims; it is a manual for emotional survival. Anger, sorrow, joy, despair, and laughter all live within its pages. This anthology of poems by cancer patients, their loved ones and caretakers is a powerful gift to anyone who is fighting or has battled the dread disease. The poetry gives voice to the loneliness, isolation, frustration and changes of diagnosis, treatment, and beyond. It is just as powerful a gift for anyone else, as the poems remind us what it is to be fully human. 'The Cancer Poetry Project' celebrates life and death, the sublime and the mundane, the ephemeral and the long-term, the beautiful and the grotesque. You do not have to have been touched by cancer to be moved by this poetry, and you do not have to like poetry to be moved by this collection of poems. This anthology will remind anyone that life is precious, that no sunrise should be taken for granted, and that the human spirit is too large to be crushed, even in the face of great suffering.

a wonderful book for anyone affected by cancer

This is a beautiful collection of poetry written for and by people affected by cancer. You can read the poems in order if you like, one or several at a time. But the contents are conveniently organized not only by theme but also by author (patient, family member, healthcare provider) which encourages reading the poems out of order and choosing those that speak to you.
