William Fintel (M.D.) is a practicing oncologist in the Blue Ridge mountains of southwest Virginia and medical director of Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke.

Gerald McDermott (Ph.D., University of Iowa) is professor of religion and philosophy at Roanoke College. He has authored several books.
