Candi/Young Hearts Run Free [Bonus Tracks]

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Andy Kellman
This 2013 release from the U.K. Edsel label via Rhino bundles Candi Staton's first two Warner Bros. albums: Candi, released in 1974, and Young Hearts Run Free, released in 1976. The first set didn't fare well commercially -- it peaked at only number 54 on Billboard's R&B chart -- but has some solid material, including a handful of songs written by Prince Phillip Mitchell. Thanks to a smart disco makeover and a smash title track, the later album made it into a lot more homes. In a similar manner, Edsel combined Staton's third and fourth Warner Bros. albums on Music Speaks Louder Than Words/House of Love.
