Canned Art: Clip Art for the Macintosh

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
For those with a large patron population who use MacIntosh computers, Canned Art is an invaluable resource that could save users hundreds of dollars. This unique volume is a centralized comprehensive catalog of MacIntosh clip art from 37 companies, and the coverage of what is available is comprehensive. Addresses and telephone numbers (often FAX numbers also) are included. There is also a listing of vendors not included so that readers can contact them. The reproduction is adequate. The back contains various coupons and special offers from the vendors in BRC format as well as a card for ordering a sample disk of graphics from all included vendors for $10.00 from the book publisher. Rarely is it possible to see all included graphics before purchasing a disk. While the volume will quickly become out-of-date, as vendors are constantly adding new graphics, it should remain a valuable reference tool for some time as a central source of vendors and for samples of the type and quality of clip art each company offers. --Barbara A. Lynn, National Library Consultant, Econo-Clad Books, Topeka, KS
Called "the Louvre of clip art" by Macworld, this collection is a demonstration of Twitchell's accuracy when he writes of vulgarity victorious. This is a catalog of 15,000 images from 35 companies arranged first by firm name, next by topic. Want a cutesy teddy bear? The index will send you romping to six pages--not numbered, but arranged by producer. Clumsy and trite. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
