It's easier to plan, and going alone he's more focused, less distracted. He goes for the challenge, battling weather, bears, black flies, mosquitoes, getting lost. He goes for the scenery, the wildness, the silence, the peace. Curran works as a clinical psychologist and lives with his wife and two children in Berlin, Massachusetts. He is also the author of Hellgate Press's Canoe Trip: North to Athabasca.
