Barnes & Noble - Carol Wright
R. Carlos Nakai's best known and bestselling work, Canyon Trilogy finds the flutist using overdubs and a digital delay to create the illusion of canyon echoes. The result is at once serene and sublime, as Nakai's calming improvisations provide the listener with a relative aural sense of both space and silence. Nakai has said that historically the flute was used not for entertainment but as an instrument of personal inner dialogue. Listening to his melodic meditations here, some of the music swirls with delicious delirium, while some seems to center on a spark. All Music Guide
Canyon Trilogy represents a return to the simplicity of Carlos Nakai's earlier albums such as Changes and Journeys. There are no additional instruments here, no rattles, and no chanting, just his haunting flutes, either solo or multi-tracked. The "trilogy" in the title refers to the three sections of the album -- "Dawn's Mirage," "Dreamscapes," and "Resonance." ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats

    Ride the Canyon Wind

An absolutely superb accomplishment of transforming a simple wooden flute into a magnificent musical instrument. You ride the canyon winds on each and every musical note as you are whisked back in time to an era gone by.

    Highly Recommend

Purchased this music years ago on cassette and now need a CD. Great for meditation. Close your eyes and not only can you hear the eagle soar you can visualize it within your mind. Pure American Native flute at its best.

    Highly recommended!

This is a great CD to listen to when meditating or vision seeking... I recommend it highly to others, as I am a Cedar Flute player myself...

    Canyonland Reverie!

Hypnotic, very relaxing, and in my favorites stack. When I listen to this CD, all I need is a quiet place to lay back, close my eyes, and dream of the warm sunbaked red rocks so common in the "four corners" area. When I listen, I am at peace with myself and my being. Heaven on Earth.
