Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

George and Harold are up to their old, very funny tricks. After they turned heads by transforming the school's annual science fair into a festival of pranks, they took mayhem to the next level by creating an entire army of dirty-mouthed talking toilets. Obviously, this is a disaster that only Captain Underpants can bring under control! A simply unstoppable series.

Children's Literature - Sarah Maury Swan
This is a full-color reprint of the 1999 black-and-white version of the same story. Teeth-filled talking toilets are out to rule the world. A teacher snaps her fingers at the toilets, unwittingly turning horrid old Principal Krup into Captain Underpants. The toilets eat the teachers. Captain U’s plan to choke the toilets with underpants fails, but he and George Beard and Harold Hutchins come up with a better idea. They pick up a huge vat of tomorrow’s lunch—creamed chipped beef—and make a slingshot out of underpants wrapped around Captain Underpants’ raised arms. Harold pulls the cart holding the vat of food, while George dumps scoops of the stuff into the slingshot. Captain U shoots a glob of lunch into the mouth of each commode. All the toilets vomit up lunch and the teachers they’d swallowed before dropping dead. Unfortunately, there is still Turbo Toilet 2000. Captain Underpants tries to stop TT 2000 with a wedgie, but gets eaten himself. George and Harold design a huge robotic plunger that will answer only to their commands. The 3-D printer brings it to life. On our geniuses’ command, the plunger kills TT and the boys rescue Captain Underpants, now Principal Krup. Sure that his life is ruined when he sees all the wreckage and the unconscious teachers, Principal K makes a deal with George and Harold. He pardons them and makes them principals for a day if they clean up the mess. Robo-Plunger does the job and flies to Uranus. Young readers who enjoy “potty humor” will get a big laugh out of this silly book—and may want more like it. Reviewer: Sarah Maury Swan; Ages 7 to 9.
