Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Dav Pilkey's second part of the snot-filled battle between Captain Underpants and the Bionic Booger Boy continues, and it's loaded with more twists, turns, and laffs! Picking up where Part 1 left off, this episode launches with George, Harold, and the other adventurers running for their lives with the Robo-Boogers in hot pursuit. Fortunately, Sulu the Bionic Hamster saves the day by swallowing them and spitting their boogery bodies into space, but now that Mr. Krupp and Melvin Sneedly have accidentally switched personalities -- and Melvin wants to get C.U.'s super powers for himself -- the whole planet gets into doo-doo when the banished Robo-Boogers begin heading back to Earth. How can things ever be set right? Never you fear -- the real Waistband Warrior uses a special trick that's squishy fun! Pilkey's seventh epic novel will surely keep fans howling with cheers, and with an Underpants Dance Flip-O-Rama and a cliff-hanger ending, this treat will surely go down in the annals of potty-humored hits.
Children's Literature
Captain Underpants is back with George and Harold, Mr. Krupp, Melvin Sneedly, Sulu, the bionic hamster, and Miss Singerbrains, the librarian. And once again they are engaged in an adventure that is so ridiculously silly and so full of flying robo-boogers, portable purple potty time machines, Combine-O-Trons, pterodactyls and spaceships, that parents (and other adults) should not, under any circumstances, attempt to read this book. Children, on the other hand, will find all this mayhem wonderfully funny, particularly when Melven and Mr. Krupp switch brains, prompting a new comic book creation by George and Harold. There is no point in trying to make sense of any of this. Captain Underpants books break just about every rule of good fiction—but kids will not care about that. Especially for reluctant young readers, this book and the others in the "Captain Underpants" series are pure gold. 2003, Blue Sky Press/Scholastic, Ages 6 to 9.

Gr 3-6-This seventh title in the series is witty, fun, and full of adventure. George and Harold think everything is fine as the Robo-Boogers are jettisoned into space, but alas, a complication has occurred. Mr. Krupp, the principal, and Melvin have had their brains switched by the Combine-O-Tron, and they become known as Kruppy the Kid and Mr. Melvin. The Robo-Boogers miraculously return on a space shuttle as Miss Singerbrains, the school librarian, gets into the action by taking the Purple Potty from the basement of the library and Mr. Melvin turns it into a magical time machine (a whole other story). As Miss Singerbrains and the boys fly with their pet pterosaurs, the youngsters regain control of the Combine-O-Tron and the Forgetchamacallit 2000 and they ultimately restore Mr. Krupp and Melvin to their rightful selves. However, the switch does not restore Captain Underpants's powers. Then, just in the nick of time, George and Harold come through. The Purple Potty time machine, which is not supposed to be used two days in a row, awaits the boys, but they, of course, use it again, so the end of this story is just the beginning of the next adventure of Captain Underpants. With fast-paced action and humorous, kid-friendly artwork, this story is creative, imaginative, and truly boisterous.-JoAnn Jonas, Chula Vista Public Library, San Diego, CA Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.

    more from this reviewer

    My favorite so far

When we last saw our heroes they were facing down three terrifying boogie monsters. In this book, Sulu the bionic hamster saves them, but that just flings George, Harold and Captain Underpants into their wildest adventure yet. If Mr. Krupp and Melvin Sneedley having switched bodies wasn't enough now Melvin is principal! And that means Melvin has Mr. Krupp's super powers and Captain Underpants has none.

This is a tangled plot that only...time travel can fix?

The Captain Underpants books are fun, silly (and a little gross) books that kids really love. They're good for reluctant readers since there aren't huge blocks of text to overwhelm them. Best for a 6-13 age range they make excellent library or class collection books as well.

This book is a story out of this world. I hope Dav Pilkey makes more Captain Under Pants. I think this the best book in the world. I think who ever reads my review and likes it should read the book. The nerd in this story wants to rule the world. But just in time to save the world.

    EXTREMELY misleading

I ordered a book that was clearly listed as NEW.........and it came very used. Binding broken, and book doesn't even lay flat.

Is it too much to ask for an accurate description???!!

    Captain Underpants

This series of books are of interest to my 7 year grandson. Therefore we tend to go on a weekly basis to see what new book is on the shelve and to our surprise I believe he has purchased them all. We have asked the associate at the store about the new coming books and they seem to not be able to find info on the upcoming books. Have these stopped from being published? My grandson loves these books and therefore, loves to read which is a good habit that is being started at an early age. Thank you

"It is a very good book to read."

"There is a lot of action, laughs and get to know a new dance called the underpants dance." As you read see my daughter who is 8 years old really liked this book. She has several books from this series and loves them all. Me & my husband like to make reading fun for our daughter and not a chore. I highly recommend this book series for all kids.

student review- the book was really funny

This book was a good sequal to Captain Underpants And The Big Bad Battle of The Bionic Booger Boy. I recommend this book to children because of its immature, and childish content's.I liked the cartoons and the plot. what i didn't like about this book is it has way to long of a title and it should have more writing and less pictures.
