THE WAIT IS OVER!!! Dav Pilkey's beloved Captain Underpants returns to face his nemesis--the evil Captain Blunderpants--with the help of two new superheroes, Great-Granny Girdle and Boxer Boy!

When we last saw George and Harold, they were about to take their pet pterodactyl Crackers back to the Cretaceous period. But things didn't work out quite as they had hoped. They've entered an absurd alternate reality where teachers are nice, kids are allowed to read banned books, and the cafeteria food doesn't smell like dirty diapers. Even worse, they've discovered alternate versions of themselves--Evil George and Evil Harold--who plan to unleash some preposterous plans on Piqua, Ohio. Now it's up to George and Harold to defeat the evil twins and THEIR superhero, Captain Blunderpants!

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Dav Pilkey's eighth epic novel promises evil, horror, and "laffs," and delivers on all three. In this rowdy episode, George and Harold take a wrong turn somewhere and wind up in a surrealistic alternate reality where everything defies expectation. As they try to adjust to a realm where teachers are nice and cafeteria food is good, our heroes encounter evil versions of themselves. Unless our dynamic duo can stop them, these diabolical twins plan to destroy their hometown.
From the Publisher

SLJ
Gr 2-5–In their eighth epic adventure, George and Harold use the Purple Potty to travel to an alternate universe where teachers care, the library has books, and kids eat at a five-star gourmet cafeteria. Unfortunately they also encounter Evil George and Evil Harold, who transform good Mr. Krupp into Captain Blunderpants. The evil duo also steal the boys' pets, Crackers and Sulu, and hitch a ride back to George and Harold's world. They might destroy that world with Evil Sulu, “the world's biggest baddest bionic hamster,” but are thwarted by the arthritic avengers Boxer Boy and Great-Granny Girdle and their geezer power. Part novel, part comic book, and part Flip-o-rama™ (add your own sound effects), this newest adventure will not disappoint the legions of Captain Underpants fans. The cartoon pictures almost tell the story, making it a boon for struggling readers. Maybe kids, like Pilkey, will be inspired to write their own comics, invent their own superheroes, poke fun at the absurdities they see, and not worry about a few (in Pilkey's case, deliberately) misspelled words. Libraries with the previous books will want to add this one.–Mary Jean Smith, Southside Elementary School, Lebanon, TN

Fans can find out what's happening with their favorite series and characters this summer. A million-copy printing and one-day laydown (August 15) marks the eighth adventure of the notorious caped BVD crusader: Captain Underpants and the Preposterous Plight of the Purple Potty People by Dav Pilkey. George and Harold's time-traveling Purple Potty transports them to a world populated by kind teachers and where students dine on gourmet cafeteria food. But things grow even more bizarre when Crackers and Sulu are petknapped from the heroes' locker by their evil twins. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

My nine year old loves this series!

I first encountered this series when my high school graduate was in elementary school. My nine year old son borrowed one of the "Underpants" books from his older brother's library and has been hooked ever since. We have had to add to the library with all of the more recent sequels to the original and all of them are great. Funny dialogue, even for Mom, and the illustrations add to the hilarity. Really good for the reluctant reader, too.

This is the best in the series. Its got so much good material, And the great poke fun at his own books dav always puts, Straight out of the book 'That kind of thing only happens in poorly written childrens stories whose author has begun running out of ideas' The storie and characters are perfect in this one.
