My son had this book for a while and just started picking it up to read it. He is in 3rd grade. He showed me the book and asked what some of the words meant. I started looking through the book and saw that there are many spelling errors done on purpose. These are in places where they have special notes or stories (presumably written by a younger person telling the story in the book). Since most kids learn how to spell many words from reading, I don't want my son thinking that this is the correct way to spell particular words. Some examples from the book are: Special spelled speshel, Formula spelled formyula, concoction spelled concockshon, poured spelled pored. There are too many more to mention. I tossed this book, there are too many other good choices of books out there.

I love most of the "Captain Underpants" books; but, this one just wasn't as good as many of the others. The The Tra-la-laaa-mendous Captain Underpants Collection (Books 5-8) are great books. They are funny, easy to read, great for a nightcap and I would get these and read them first if you haven't already read them. IAC, If you have, you will want to get this one too so you have the whole series. TBH, Maybe I have been reading too much lately! Be sure and get some of the Captain Underpants Books. Tex

I think as a reeder of captain underpants, thinks it is actually educationall. 1 george and arold muddle words on sighns this will make the children think about how to muddle it. 2 in book number 2 there are many Jokes that makes the children think for example when george and harold have a memory they imagine it as (last years invention convention and in the fith ook when one of the teachers retires she askes all the children to write the poem that she wroteon the board and at the end of the poem it says sighed your name here 9evry single child writes sighned your name here! finally for the latest captain underpants book it tells you about travelling through time this made me think allot.that is why i love this book

My son LOVES these books. Even if they are not a very good reader, these books really keep their interest and keeps them reading. He's read everyone at least 5 times and is anxious for The Wrath of the Wicked Wedgy Woman to come out sometime this year!!!
