Editorial Reviews

Diary of an Eccentric - Anna H.
Like Persuasion, Captain Wentworth Home From the Sea is a sweet story about second chances.
Austenesque Reviews - Meredith E.
I dearly loved reading this variation novella for Persuasion!... My favorite aspect about this novella (and every novel I've read by Mary Simonsen) is her accurate renderings and illustrative augmentations of Jane Austen's characters. I adored Ms. Simonsen's depiction of Anne, she was so patient and compassionate, and I enjoyed seeing her tender nature with Frederick.

    Highly recommended!

Excellent read! Details of the original storyline are integrated into the text but with a twist, adding dimension and interest to the story. The flow of the story is good, capturing the character of Anne and Captain Wentworth as the story unfolds.

If you are a lover of all things Jane Austen you will like this sweet story. The idea that Fredrick would still fall for Anne even though he has lost his memory of their previous relationship gives support to the concept of the two as soulmates. A quick read for a rainy afternoon.

    Persuasion Lover Must Read!

What a love story! When Captain Wentworth lost his memory, he also lost the memories he shared with Anne. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Anne and Frederick fall in love all over again. Mary Simonsen is very talented when it comes to character development. Not only is she able to keep Austen's tone and feel, but she also manages to add new dimensions to her characters. For example, while Lady Russell is still Anne's closest companion, I found her actions even more slap-worthy here. In addition, Simonsen does a remarkable job of taking Austen's secondary characters and developing them. The reader gets to see more of Mrs. Croft and Capt. Hargrove's wife and their sagely advice to Anne and Captain Wentworth. I was kept in suspense the entire time wondering when and how Wentworth would get his memory back. Again, the plot moved me and I could not put down this book. Simonsen's wit and humor are classic. Reading the banter between Anne and Captain Wentworth kept me wanting more of them! I love books that make me smile and laugh! I truly did not want this book to end. Anyone who remotely enjoys Austen's Persuasion must read this book! FTC Disclaimer: Review copy provided by author.

A Wonderful Persuasion "What If" Story

Persuasion is my favorite Austen novel and Mary Lydon Simonsen did a wonderful job with this what if scenario. I absolutely loved this story and hope she produces more stories featuring Anne and Captain Wentworth.
