Overview

She was the most irresistible treasure of all . . .

Dominic LeVeq, the most notorious privateer ever to command the high seas, has just captured a coveted prize: a British frigate. On a dangerous mission against the Crown, Dominic should be thinking only of his ship's safety. But the rebel captain is utterly entranced by Clare Sullivan, the stunning slave on board. Consumed by desire, desperate to have her, Dominic offers Clare her freedom in exchange for a forbidden night in his bed—a night he assures her will be most pleasureable indeed.

Clare believes that Dominic is nothing more than a seductive rogue used to getting what he wants. But she too feels a tantalizing passion between them, and so she submits to just one night of bliss. She'll soon realize that Dominic has captured more than her body. He's captured her heart . . . and she doesn't want him to ever let go.

    A great historical romance

Dominic LeVeq has two missions that tie nicely together in terms of his heritage. As the son of a Frenchman, he enjoys being a privateer terrorizing the British shipping industry; he especially cherished sailing the sea with his father for two decades until the old man recently died in 1774. As the offspring of a black mistress he makes his life passion freeing slaves from those same vessels. He is even more enflamed by what his half-brother Eduard did to the three hundred workers on their late father's estate in Martinique.

In 1778 he and his crew capture a British frigate. On board are a Savannah belle and her slave Clare Sullivan. He takes Clare with him to his island haven and offers her a Faustian deal; one night for a lifetime of freedom. She counters insisting one night and a return to Savannah where her children live. He considers upping the ante with a dangerous proposition.

The leading author of historical romances starring Black heroes, Beverly Jenkins proves why she is a highly regarded bestselling author with her latest tale. Captured by the lead couple readers will relish this strong late eighteenth century tale on the high seas and in Revolutionary War Savannah. Dominic is wonderful swashbuckler but has met his match in the feisty slave he wants to liberate. Ms. Jenkins provides her fans with another captivating tale (see INDIGO and TOPAZ) that captures the essence of being African and half-African in 1778 in the Caribbean and Georgia.

    Oh,To Be Captured

Dominic LeVeq, pirate captain of the Marie sails the seas looking for treasures and slave ships, when he comes upon a frigate with slave, Clare Sullivan aboard. Dominic is a take no prisoners pirate but is taken with Clare, although she puts up a fight, he must have her and goes about proving it. Who would't want to be captured by this pirate?

On Dominic's island, Liberte, Clara finds herself enjoying her freedom and time with Dominic and the other islanders who are freed slaves, she wants to return to her children in Savannah who are still in slavery. Of course, Dominic and his crew offer their help and this is where Ms Jenkins provides some action and suspense.

Along with an enjoyable group of characters and more history of the race, we also get a romantic story from the hands of the Storyteller of Historicals, Beverly Jenkins

    This Story Captured Me Too!

First of all this is a romance novel set during the Revolutionary War Era. It's rare to find a romance written from a black perspective during that time, and this one was superb. The lives of the characters intertwined in the most excellent of ways as they traveled the globe during this turbulent time in search of riches to sustain the way of life for a refugee society in the Caribbean. The hero of this story was a strong, possessive hunk of a man (based on the life of a true person) who I couldn't get enough of. This story was simply great, there were so many unexpected twists and turns that it kept me on the edge of my seat. Definitely, get this book. You won't regret it.

This is one of my favorite authors.

You will get involved with her characters and totally wrapped up in her stories. You will also find out things you never knew about Black history. She gives you the listings of other fact based books to check her storyline. Although her story and characters are fictional, her settings and historical backgrounds are based in facts.
You should also read her other books Indigo, Through the Storm, Night Song and more. It's like following a family history.

    I Also Recommend:

    Free and Slave

When you are a slave and you see a pirate who is free and the same as you what runs through your mind at that time. Well in this book you get to experience that first hand. BUt what if in the mix you are taken by that pirate and have been forced to leave your kids behind until they decided you could get them. So i suggest getting this book because you will not put it down.
