Extended Edition.
Blood Slave.
Captured, taken from her beloved family and woods, Aria’s biggest fear is not the imminent death facing her, but that she will be chosen as a blood slave for a member of the ruling vampire race. No matter what becomes of her though, Aria knows that she must keep her identity hidden from the monsters imprisoning her. She has already been branded a member of the rebellion, but the vampires do not know the true depth of her involvement with it, and they must never know. Though hoping for death, Aria’s world is turned upside down when a vampire named Braith steps forward to claim her. He delays her execution, but Aria knows it’s only a matter of time before he drains her, and destroys her. Especially once she learns his true identity as a prince within the royal family; the same royal family that started the war that ultimately brought down humankind, reducing them to nothing more than servants and slaves. Aria is determined to hate the prince, determined not to give into him in anyway, but his strange kindness, and surprising gentleness astonish her. Torn between her loyalties to the rebellion, and her growing love for her greatest enemy, Aria struggles to decide between everything she has ever known, and a love she never dreamed of finding.

Mature YA/New Adult. This book contains some language, violence, and sexual situations. Recommended for ages sixteen and up.

    How many more

Don't start unless you want to be left hanging after each book. Worse still in the combined series 1-3 that doesn't end either. You are at the authors mercy as to how many more books you'll have to buy to get to the ending of one story.

    Story: GOOD

    Enjoyment: FAIRLY GOOD

    THOUGHTS

While reading Captured, I was conflicted and split in the middle on my feelings towards the story. Although I rated my enjoyment, fairly good, which is till good for me, this book had my emotions going from ok, not bad to good. Although it took me towards the end, I finally figured out what the authors intentions are with the book and the series.

The author was establishing a foundation for the characters and who they are in book 1. When the story first starts, Aria is held as a captive and is rescued by Braith, a vampire prince who is over 900 hundred years old. Aria, who is human and Braith, who is a vampire, are both at war for as long as they could remember with their people. Where I felt frustrated was Braith's motives when he has Aria in his possession. I was intrigue but a bit frustrated as well. We only know that he has taken her as a blood slave as that is the purpose of most humans amongst Braith's people. However, as the plot starts to unfold more it started turning around for me. The Braith you read about in the beginning of book 1 is no longer the same Braith at the end of the story. I grew to love Braith although he had a wicked temper when put to the test. Aria was held against her will and was every bit as frustrated as I was with not knowing Braith's true intentions. However, as time goes on, she begins to fall in love with Braith.

What I loved about the end of the story, which will continue in book 2, was the metamorphosis of Braith. And what I mean by that and the best way to describe it is star wars. If you know the history of star wars and Darth Vader, he was not always a bad guy. He was a guy in love and good, until that pivotal moment that change everything. And that's where book 1 has left off with Braith.

The one thing I will say is that I would have liked to read more vampire tendencies, but then again, this story was a bit different for me and interesting. Still debating reading book 2.

    I Also Recommend:

I have to admit, I really enjoyed this book, even though I'm not

I have to admit, I really enjoyed this book, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the YA genre. There was a bit of Stockhold Syndrome going on here, as Aria begins to fall for Braith, who holds her captive as his blood slave.

The post-apocalyptic world setting is not too well described, but we do get the gist of it. I would've liked to learn a bit more of the background , but what we do learn is pretty interesting. Vampires now rule, and humans are their subjects. The ones who resist reside in the forest and live in very primitive conditions.

Aria is the daughter of the human resistance leader, who is captured and sold at an auction to Braith, the vampire prince. He has his own reasons for wanting Aria and he can be a bit scary at times. It was interesting how Aria was, for the most part, treated really well, despite her official status as a blood slave and how torn she is when she begins to fall for Braith despite the fact that he's her enemy.  The only thing that detracts from the story is the poor grammar/editing. I found it to be distracting. This reminds me of an adult romance I recently read along the same vein (Close Liaisons) - although I like that one better because it's got stronger worldbuilding and a lot more steam factor.

NO! NO! NO! That was what I was screaming in my head as I got to the
last sentence of this book....TOTALLY left me hanging, but I gotta
admit, I loved it! Although there are background details that were
omitted in this tale, it just makes me want to read #2 that much more.
Maybe more details will be included in future installments? The
ill-fated love story between Aria and Braith is sad, poignant, and even
a little hot (RAWR) -- and the last page or two completely flip you on
your ass. Thus, the NO NO NO I spoke of earlier. Awesome vampire short
    story!!

    Pretty darn good

Stats: 400 nook pages. Free. Paranormal romance. Rated PG13. No actual sex, but lots of sensuality. Vampires rise and make war on humans resulting in world where the only humans free from vampire oppression are are rebel groups hiding in the woods and caves. It felt like the majority of the book was the thoughts of the 2 main characters. That got a little tiresome, and kept me skimming ahead for dialogue and action which is probably how I finished it in a few hours today. I'm intrigued enough to buy book #2, though.

    Very enjoyable

This book was well written, the characters were fleshed out and likeable. The plot flowed well and the ending was not expected. This is a twisted Romeo and Juliette that left me hanging. I can't wait to read book 2 and 3.

    AWESOME!

LOVE THE WAY SHE WROTE IT. (Though I hate what Jerico does to get her to leave with him and how Blaithe reacts to it. )If your expecting blantant sex well this book isn't it so move on, but it does provide blood shucking and very close intamacy scenes but never full on sex. It describes a confusing love between a young human rebel leaders daughter and a blind oldest son of a vampire king. It brings us into a world of cruelty, hunger, war,and love. Its like a sickly twisted version of Romeo and Juliet, but instead of Romeo knowing Juliet is off limits he doesn't find out until the last minute and also that Juliet runs off leaving him feeling betraied which turns him into the same type of people he hates. Can't wait to read the next book and find out if their love will last or will she move on.

    Get a better editor!!!!!!

This book was good. I found myself hooked and will go on to read the rest. However, this writer needs a good editor. There are way too many errors, run-on sentences, and misspellings! Come on! You are being paid for your work, and it is a poor reflection on you as a writer!

    Worth Reading.
It's a good story where vampires rule the world, not humans. One falls in love with a human, etc. The only fault I found with the book was that some parts were a bit too drawn out.

What a great dystopian vampire story. I was a bit skeptical at first, wasn't sure how this story was going to plan out but it's very good. So good I read both books one and two in 2 days! The author has done a great job with creating a world where vampires have taken over everything, and humans are at their mercy. There is a large group of rebellions who want to over throw the vampires and live in caves, underground, or in the safety of the woods where they cannot be found. I liked that in this story the humans have forgotten what a shower is, or a toilet, those little things that we take for granted. Makes you think of how much we have and how much we can lose. There is so much anticipation in this book that it made it almost impossible to put down. There's action, mystery and romance, all those things you need for a great story. The characters are interesting; all of them have their own uniqueness which pulls different emotions out of you. If you read it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy.

    Great book!

I really enjoyed this book! I have read a lot of vampire stories and this one is a little different. The story is great and moves along very well. The characters are well written and I was really invested in their story. Like another reviewer wrote, at the end of book one, I was saying No, No, No, it can't end like that. I won't say anymore because I don't want to ruin it. I highly recommend this book, now I have to go buy the next one and find out what happens next!

    Tsk tsk

I was enjoying the story until I realized that I was spending more time being distracted by the bad grammar than I was actually reading. Hard to read when you are anticipating the stupid mistakes. This is in need of an editor. I won't be finishing the book (sigh)
