Meet the Author

A Nikon Legend Behind the Lens, Lexar Elite Photographer, recipient of the John Muir Conservation Award, Research Associate with the Endangered Species Recovery Program, published in over 130 magazines worldwide, author of 23 books and lecturing across the country to thousands upon thousands of photographers barely covers the work and goals of wildlife photographer Moose Peterson. One of the original Nikon shooters to receive the D1 in 1999, Moose embraced this new technology becoming the only wildlife photographer in the world to shoot strictly digital in the early years. A beta site for all the major hardware and software manufacturers, Moose continues his main goal of photographing the life history of North America ’s endangered wildlife and wildplaces using the latest tools. A creative innovator of new techniques both behind the camera and the computer is the driving force behind his photography and goals.

    A good read

Moose is an outstanding photographer and a great story teller. However, as he says in the book, "I can't write". The book is written in a conversational style the way Moose talks. But it is full of spelling and grammatical errors that go "clang" when you are reading and spoil the effect of the storyline. It is obvious that no one at Kelby Media ever proof read this book before it went to press. If you are looking for a book to improve your photography technically, this is not for you. There is nothing in this book that is new or informative that has not already been written a thousand times before.

That said, it is still a great read as Moose takes you through his life as a photographer. The book is chockablock with memories of how he got started. Moose is very self-deprecating and freely admits many of the mistakes he made as a neophyte photographer. And this may be the real strength of the book.
