Meet the Author

Jane is qualified to the equivalent of a Masters Degree in People Management and is fascinated by the things which craft people’s personalities, so she has great fun exploring these through characters. She lives in the United Kingdom near the Regency City of Bath and has just bought her 400 year old dream home. History has always tempted her imagination and she loves researching and also exploring ruins and houses to get ideas. She equally loves a love story.Jane has always aspired to writing a historical novel so when she was thirty she put it on her ‘to do before I am forty’ list. She completed her first novel ten years ago, never sent it anywhere then started the next. She’s not stopped writing since, and escaping into a mental world of fiction is a great painkiller to help fight off her Ankylosing Spondylitis.

This is one of the best short stories I have ever read. It was so good, and I liked the characters a lot. I look forward to reading more.

Serious-themed Regency Romance CAPTURING THE EARL'S LOVE by Jane Lark runs 42 pages (without front- and end-matter). This free novella from HarperImpulse Historical Romance showcases Jane Lark's writing beautifully. Lord Rupert Stanforth, Earl of Morton meets Miss Meredith Divine at a country Dance-- a young woman who has befriended his sister (and responsibility) Rowena. As Rowena's guardian, he has significant concerns about Miss Divine's influence. If Miss Divine isn't trying to catch his attention, she's giggling too loudly and behaving too brashly....but she hasn't been raised by gentility and hasn't a mother to teach her. Rupert doesn't like the girl (our heroine, Miss Divine)-- and recognizes her machinations. When it all comes to a head, Rupert finds himself trapped into offering for her. What begins as a strained marriage becomes a love match. It's delightful watching this pair fall in love....and the repercussions of Miss Divine deciding *this* Earl is for her. this is one of the books that I have had on my nook that I would never read again only 56 pages but it still took me three days to get it read I would not tell anyone that it would be a quick read

So predictable. So not worth paying for 65 pgs, which is only a chapter in a real book.

Ms. Lark has written a sweet enjoyable romance about two people from different social planes who are forced by convention to marry. Good character arcs show how they grow and become more than they expected. I look forward to more by Ms. Lark.

liked the story, however, implausible.one day the earl hates his bride and next he loves her because she was good in bed. needed a few more pages to explain how he found himself in love and understand her feeling...not enough was explained to show this sudden shift in his personality..this is not pride and predjudice.

This little novella gives us the story of how Rupert and Meredith met. I think their romance was the smoothest of all the ones I've read so far in the Marlow Intrigues. They had a rough start because, Rupert was unsure of Meredith's intentions. It's funny because we usually wonder about the man's true intentions. So, it was a little bit of a role reversal than what you usually read which was a nice touch. I digress, these two were cute, and I enjoyed their story very much. Capturing the Earl's Love by Jane Lark was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
