Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sara Lorimer
"See? It's not just me. This book says you shouldn't fool around in the back seat because it distracts the driver," parents everywhere will say after reading this book with their children. Author Lisa M. Herrington discusses the different kinds of car seats, warns that you can get locked in the trunk if you play in it, and advises readers to always exit a vehicle curbside. While most of the text is generally good advice, the book might benefit from an observation about how state laws often fall short of expert recommendations about such things as riding in the front seat and positioning of infant car seats. Early readers will be able to read this book on their own, and then discuss the contents with an adult. The full-color, full-page photographs illustrating each tip show a racially diverse range of children and adults. From the "Rookie Read-About Safety" series. Reviewer: Sara Lorimer
