From The CriticsReviewer: Eric D. Grassman, M.D., Ph.D. (Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine)
Description: This is the third edition of a comprehensive book on cardiac catheterization.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide the fundamentals of cardiac catheterization for fellows-in-training and nurse/technician professionals. Its pocket size is very helpful and convenient. The objectives have been met with this practical handbook.
Audience: It is intended for cardiology fellows and nurse/technician professionals, according to the editor, who is a renowned invasive cardiologist.
Features: It covers equipment, indications, angiography, hemodynamics, and EPS. It includes some special discussions about angiographic tips for difficult lesions. It also has an excellent glossary and x-ray identification of prosthetic valves.
Assessment: Although the editor describes this book as not all-inclusive, I think it is a very comprehensive review of catheterization laboratory techniques for a handbook. It has received high praise from a leader in the field, Dr. William Grossman.
