    Wonderful, Powerful story. Must Read!

You know, we all have favorite authors. It is fun to find a book from their backlist know nothing about, so, you must read it, right? That is what happened to me with Cardinal's Rule by Tymber Dalton. Of course, I forgot that reading a book by Ms Dalton can be a mindf... um, you know. I never know if it will tie my stomach into knots, or have me in tears, or just be a nice read. This book? It hit all three.

Tilly Cardinal took control of her life when the Master she loved abandoned her with no explanation. Now, working as a Pro Domme, she makes certain that she runs her life with the same control she uses on her boys. When she's approached by a man looking for someone to assist in training his slave, he offers her a proposition she can't refuse.

Landry LaCroux is very angry with his slave. He knew slave had a life after their split several years ago, but he is stunned to learn that slave abandoned the woman who called him Master when they reconciled. He now seeks retribution and a chance to correct the wrongs, for which he feels partly responsible.

Cristo realizes he's hurt the two people he's ever loved. He'll accept whatever is necessary in order to show his Master that he loves him and never meant to hurt him. He never dreamed it would require his submitting to Tilly.

This story is an emotional roller coaster. I was angry, happy and even cried at various times throughout the story. I swear there's something about Tymber Dalton that results in her writing stories that make people cry! The woman can be EVIL, but she writes such wonderful stories. I could not stop reading this one. There were times I wanted to walk away. I flipped back and forth between wanting to beat the crap out of a character and wanting to give them a hug. I often wanted to tell one or two of them exactly where to go and write them off... but I couldn't. I needed to know where the story ended. There was a very fine line in this story... but Ms Dalton managed to walk it well.

Parts of this story...**sigh** well, I would have probably walked away from the relationship, but I know I couldn't be happy in a Master/slave relationship, so that didn't surprise me. Different strokes for different folks. However, the love amongst the characters, and sometimes even the guilt, kept this story together. In the end, this is a love story. No, it's not your boy meets girl, falls in love and lives happily ever after. But gee, you can get that anywhere, and if that's what you're looking for, do NOT read Tymber Dalton...ever! :)

Now, I do need to state that if you are not comfortable with reading Master/slave relationships, higher levels of pain than your average BDSM romance, emotional torture (and yes, I did consider some scenes emotional torture... I know it tortured me at least) do not read this book. There are warnings on books for a reason. If you ignore the warning, you are choosing to accept the resulting feelings, do NOT blame the author... she tried to warn you.

As you can tell by the length of this review, this is story is not light and fluffy, but it's a powerful read. If the warning label is acceptable to you, then I say READ READ READ this book!!! I will add a warning of my own... Do not start reading if you have anything to do that evening. A friend and I discovered it's best to plan on ordering dinner out... and you may want to hide in the bathtub so no one interrupts you.

I can always count on Tymber Dalton to educate, entice and suck

I can always count on Tymber Dalton to educate, entice and suck me into a story.  She did not fail with this book.  The intensity, eroticism
and emotional qualities left me unable to put the book down and so everything had to wait until I finished the 800 page book in one day.
This is not a typical love story. There are so many elements and layers that it was fascinating to see where the characters would go next.
The book is VERY intense in the psychological (as opposed to the physical) components of BDSM but was a wonderful explanation to
me of the master/slave dynamic.  Once you understand the reasoning behind the initial turmoil, it is a very believable plot.  I agree with
other reviewers that this book is an emotional roller coaster, not in the same vein as “The Reluctant Dom” (an EXCELLENT book by the
way) but just as satisfying!   If you want to learn about an emotional aspect of the BDSM lifestyle interwoven in a rich love story, read
    this book.
