Career Biography/Jane Goodall

by Brendan January, Ferguson

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 4-7-Goodall's life has all of the elements of a great fictional story: she's almost a female Horatio Alger figure who has succeeded through fate, circumstance, perseverance, and hard work. Much has been written about her, by herself and by others. This title will not replace her own My Life with the Chimpanzees (Minstrel, 1996), recommended highly for middle-grade readers, or Through a Window: My Thirty Years with the Chimpanzees of Gombe (Houghton, 1991) for mature readers. The photos in these earlier titles are superior in quality to the dark, undistinguished pictures included here. However, January's book might be just the ticket for reluctant readers or students looking for a quick biography. Concluding resource information describes career training for future anthropologists and writers.-Marilyn Payne Phillips, University City Public Library, MO Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
