Children's Literature
If your family has been thinking about buying a rabbit or you just want to learn more about rabbits, this is an excellent book to read. Rabbits make great pets for people who want an animal that is smart, clean, and quiet. This book introduces the reader to the many different types of rabbits. When looking for a rabbit one needs to find out as much as possible about the type of rabbit they are planning to purchase. Some rabbits require a lot of grooming. Some are friendlier than others. It is important to find the right type of rabbit for your family. Those who are in the market to purchase a pet rabbit also are cautioned to find out if anyone in their family is allergic to rabbits. This book explains how to care for a rabbit by regular grooming, cleaning the rabbit's hutch weekly, and feeding the rabbit nutritious food. As you explore this book, you will find rabbit prints that contain interesting facts. It even explains why rabbits thump their hind legs. Educators and parents alike will find this book an excellent resource for interesting and useful information about rabbits. Caring for your Rabbit is part of the "Caring for Your Pet" series. 2002, Weigl Publishers Incorporated, Ages 8 to 12.

Gr 2-4-These eye-catching books have engaging covers and colorful photos liberally sprinkled throughout. Brief bits of text provide basic material on the physical characteristics, diet, behaviors, housing, selection, and care of each animal. Fact boxes appear on most of the spreads and each volume ends with a brief quiz, frequently asked questions, related organizations, and Web sites. These offerings are somewhat similar to, though simpler and less informative than, titles in Helen Piers's "Young Pet Owner's Guides" series (Barron's) and the "ASPCA Pet Care Guides for Kids" series (DK). Foran's titles will appeal to animal lovers and will serve well if your pet collection needs perking up.-Patricia Manning, formerly at Eastchester Public Library, NY Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
