Overview

Read Rachel Caine's posts on the Penguin Blog

In the small college town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace-until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to even greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants-the living and the undead. Claire Danvers and her friends are the only ones who stand in his way. But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having such a taste of power?

    Flippin Awesome!!!

it ties up all the loose ends, and completely satisfies what the readers want. Shane is so amazing with Claire, i love their relationship with each other, so glad it finally happens. it had me hanging on edge to figure out what would happen between the vampires and humans. it puts the drama in at the perfect times. I'm so going to reread it. Can't wait for the next one!

phenomenal addition to the Morganville series

I never knew Shane could be so dramatic or a hopeless romantic or that Eve could be so foolish. I never Pictured Eves character as gullible but she certainly is in the beginning of this book. I also have a small confession to make Myrnin is my new fictional love interest ( their I said it!) Sorry Jacob!! I just cant get over his bipolar manic crazy behavior it draws me in. He is easily one of the most interesting characters I've read this year or actually in a couple years.

    Loved it!

Somehow, this series gets better and better with each book! Carpe Corpus had lots of unexpected turns. Love, friendship, and suspense kept my attention glued to the pages until I was finished. I'm absolutely in love with these characters...and that was only further solidified in this installment! I can't get enough of them and I'm happy to know that I'm only half way through the books (there are supposed to be 12, at least for now).

Okay, There are no words to describe this book!!

Ohmygoddyness!! This book was completely amazing. I loved that Shane and Claire... sorry I'm not going to ruin it for those who have not read it yet. This series for me ranks higher than Twilight. I hated the cliff hanger but if you are like me and just can't wait until November 3,2009, then you can go onto her website and read the first three chapters of Fade Out. This series is utterly extraordinary!

    Best Yet!

Carpe Corpus is the best book yet in the Morganville Vampires series. Truthfully the begining was a bit discouraging. It kinda threw me off when i first started. Everyone was spilt up and there were so many secrets to figure out, but once you get past the all the supposed betrayls it gets better. By the end i was just so wrapped up in the story (as I have been with all the rest of the books). I can not wait for November when Fade Out is released. This wait could be worse than the wait for Breaking Dawn!

Reviewed by Jennifer Rummel for TeensReadToo.com

Claire and her friends are divided over the recent events in Morganville. Shane's locked up with his father. Michael's working for the evil Bishop along with Claire - while Eve is furious with both of them.

Claire needs to believe the Myrnin has a plan, but she's not sure she can actually trust him.

Bishop is running the town and pushing it close to ruin. He doesn't care about any of the citizens. Claire realizes that Amelie hasn't gone into the shadows and disappeared. Instead, she's been working to move the townspeople out of danger and away from Morganville.

With the whole town gearing up for a fight, who will be left standing and what alliances will be broken/formed?

THE MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES series is a fast-paced, addicting read that draws readers in and never lets them go, and CARPE CORPUS is a great addition to the line.

Shane, Claire, Michael, Eve, crazy amazing vampires! Wonderful book!

AHHH! this book was amazing. Thorughtout the book you'll just love claire and shane being together. But you start to wonder wether a certain crazy vampire is getting the hots for her. Shane and Claire's relationship gets stronger and stronger and although Claire starts to worry that they are going to fall apart. Michael and Eve's relationship does not change much but they are both still amazing. The vampires are still hardcore (except for one ;) who is getting a soft side) and Bishop is pretty scary. This book was another amazing book Rachel Caine has written. She never fails to give a exciting, thrilling novel!

The first five books were amazing, and Shane is my favorite character, and i love how he cares so much about Claire, and the fact that he won't just go with her. But for all you people who can't wait for the big moment you and Claire have been waiting for, if you read the fifth book when Shane talked to Eve he said he'd wait another year because she was only sixteen, well in the sneak peak she turns seventeen so your wait is over!!!!

Rachel Caine has carved out a unique niche in the urban fantasy sub-genre with her super young adult Morganville Vampires

Morganville is not your typical college town because vampires make the rules that paranormal and humans must obey. For instance mortals are required to contribute to the blood bank. It is difficult to leave Morganville because you need vampire permission. Amelie was the head vampire, who ran the town with compassion for all, but her father Bishop led a coup d'etat and with the help of spells and insider information has taken over.------------------------

Amelie and her followers reside in the shadows waiting for the moment to take back their town from the lethal lock of her sire. Some people, who really know the brilliant teen, Claire Danvers, believe she is the only hope to save the town. However, even Claire must heed Bishop's call since he marked her. Her boyfriend Shane and her father await execution, but Claire convinces Amelie to free him. Claire her friend Michael the vampire, a vampire scientist and goth girl Eve are also waiting to bring down Bishop and use his blood as an antidote to end the disease killing vampires.---------------

Rachel Caine has carved out a unique niche in the urban fantasy sub-genre with her super young adult Morganville Vampires. Her mythos is wonderful as she makes the town seem genuine with humans and vampires living in a shaky peaceful coexistence; reminiscent of the early Gorbachev-Reagan era Cold War; that is before Bishop took over and brought overt hostility (sort of a return to Stalin) into the insecure relationships. The latest thriller contains plenty of action, but as always in this saga, CARPE CORPSE is character driven by the good, the bad, and the evil.------------

    Series not going anywhere

I feel that these books are not going anywhere, very drawn out with the same stuff. This one finally finishes somewhat. I do not like where the relationships have gone and will not be reading the others in the series. This one had enough of an ending for me.
