Carried Me: The Worship Project

Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
Jeremy Camp burst on the scene in 2002 with his auspicious rock-pop debut, Stay. On Carried Away, Camp's third release, we find him putting that same spin on new and familiar worship material. Though Camp's resonant vocals often make him sound like a clone of Creed's Scott Stapp, he works hard to overcome that liability by infusing his music with genuine emotion. There's passion to his vocals as he attacks "Hear My Voice," real yearning to "I Wait For the Lord." Modern worship standard "You're Worthy of My Praise" has been recorded dozens of times, but certainly not like Camp does it: he turns what is usually a mellow message of praise into a driving, energetic rocker. Among the new worship tracks, "Beautiful One" is notable mostly for its production, and the fact that it features the vocals of Camp's new bride (and former Benjamin Gate lead singer), Adrienne Liesching. Camp's style of worship is firmly rooted in the repetition that characterizes the genre, but he does an admirable job of making it fresh.

Jeremy Camp shines in his worship music!

I love all the songs on his CD...His voice is awesome and he definitely has had a calling to sing worship music! Everytime I listen to this CD I am inspired to stand-up, put my hands up in the air and worship! His music is very positive and he makes our Father God proud!

    By Chance

Every now and then I pick up a Christian CD and think "oh this might be good!" It's not like the genre of pop and rock where you can turn on MTV and watch a video and go pick up the CD because you like the song. When you hear a song in church or on a WOW cd that's when you get a general feel of the artist or song. That's how I discovered Mercy Me and I own all 3 CD's. I wasn't sure about Jeremy Camp as I looked at his CD in the store, but after picking it up I just can't put it down. I realized that I recognized one of his songs from the WoW CD's and just knew that I liked him. What a great CD and definately worth the money to support such Christian artists and their outreach to young and old Christians alike.
