Excerpt:

Susan tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep. She just dozed off, exhausted near dawn.
She awakened with a start when a seven foot tall Grendel knocked down the door and entered snarling and growling.
He saw a very pregnant human woman sitting up in bed. He roared at her, expecting her to scream and try to run away in terror. The sock demon took one look at him and leaped under the bed whining in fear.
He walked up to the human and roared again, the walls shaking with the magnificence of his effort.
Instead of running or screaming, Susan grabbed the Grendel by his whiskers and yanked him down until they were nose to nose.
He whimpered in pain and his eyes started watering. No one ever yanked on his whiskers!
"You just stepped on my last nerve, dickwad!” She snarled, her eyes turning red with her anger. “My back aches, my breasts hurt and I have hemorrhoids the size of Texas.” She yanked on his whiskers to punctuate each of her ills. “And just when I FINALLY get to sleep, you knock down my door and come roaring in here waking me up!"
She yanked his whiskers so hard he thought they were going to come out and he almost cried.
"I am tired and irritable and I want to kill things!” She snarled. There was no fear, only anger. “And you just made the top of my very short list!”
