Casablanca Companion

Casablanca Companion

by Jeff Siegel

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
This volume is one of probably many being published to coincide with the classic film's 50th anniversary (the movie itself will also be rereleased theatrically). Siegel rounds up the usual anecdotes concerning the film's production, including alternate endings, various casting possibilities, and the long-standing imbroglio over who actually wrote it (there are many contenders claiming that prized title). Though brief, this contains ``everything you always wanted to know about Casablanca '' in a text that is chock full of trivia regarding all aspects of the film from the creation through release and aftermath. Though most of the information is available in various other volumes and Siegel's reverence for the film biases his opinions, anyone wanting a one-stop resource on Casablanca need look no further. And of the great film itself, which 50 years later can still make viewers laugh, cry, and cheer, all one can say is, ``Here's looking at you, kid.'' Recommended.-- Michael Rogers, ``Library Journal''
