Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2-- Cassandra the cat is mistakenly given an invitation to a costume party that was intended for Cassandra the pig. Even though the cat doesn't know the hostess, she makes a costume and attends. Mix-ups occur as she is thought to be a pig without a costume : instead of a cat in pig suit. When the right Cassandra arrives, the puzzle pieces fall into place. Bright, colorful, and friendly illustrations greet readers, but the weak story line and wordy telling are not as satisfying. Older picture book readers should still appreciate the feline's ability to make new friends in the face of adversity, while younger ones might enjoy the predicament without noticing the obvious contrivances. --Nancy A. Gifford, Schenectady County Public Library, NY
