DON'T YOU EVER!!!!

At the tender age of 10, I remember being so proud of my first performance in a one act play. Afterwards, I ran up to my mother and her best friend who were sitting on the front row. "Susan, you were so terrific exclaimed my mother's friend! I replied, Yes, I was!" My mother's face turned bright red and she angrily said, "Susan, don't you ever brag and embarrass me like that again!." To this day, I can still feel the stinging effect of those words. "They "made me feel heavy, like a bag of cement. If my mother said so, it must be true." Had I been introduced to Gina Otto's transformative book at that early age, I truly believe my whole life would have been different due to a heightened sense of self-worth and confidence. Buy a copy of Cassandra's Angel for your parents and friends. This book is "powerful medicine" and incredibly inspirational no matter what age.

Every once in a while, a story comes along that will change you.

Cassandra’s Angel is about being your own bright light and shining for the world. I have watched as its message has helped my daughter become a more thoughtful, much more confident little girl. Cassandra's Angel is now one of her (and my) favorite bedtime stories.

We LOVE this book!!!

This book empowers children AND parents with it's beautiful message!! My children know they are bright lights and they shine brightly all the time! This story helps their Mama remember...and to shine her light as well! Thank you!

Game changer

I have had this book since it came out almost ten years ago. I continually buy it for friends and their kids as a present. With all that is being said about bullying and self-esteem for kids right now, and especially with what kids are having to deal with, I think this book can be so useful to remind them (and us) that we are special and unique.

a MUST READ FOR ALL AGES

I read Cassandra's Angel then gave it to my 16 year old daughter,adopted from Guatemala, to read. She said " it looks like a children's book but it's really for everyone" My daughter wants to recommend it as a play in her drama class at school.

Great Book for Young and Old

This is my favorite gift to provide new mother's of little girls. We often forget the impact "words" can have on our sense of self worth and confidence. This book helps us all to provide patience in setting our girls up to be powerful women of the future.

Wonderful, joyous book!!!

I've sent this book to my friends who have young children, (both boys and girls) and the message of acceptance and being yourself translates for either gender. What a sweet book to show kids how they can be good children, but still be themselves. I don't send books to friends unless I feel like there is a chance for the parents to be able to show their children a lesson or a "moral of the story..." and this book definitely provides a great discussion! The illustrations are imaginative and magical and definitely captivates children. It's an incredibly well-told story with a positive message.

I adore this book. The writing is fantastic and the illustrations are beautiful. It was given to me at a baby shower as a gift. It was my favorite thing in the basket. This is the type of message I want my children to grow up reading!

BAD MESSAGE FOR KIDS

This book tells kids not to listen to their parents or teachers. It makes both parents and teachers look like the bad guy. I have to agree with another reviewer, it seems like a weird cry for help from the author. Reads like a strange therapy session. The pictures are pretty but the story is just plain bizarre. How this made it to print is beyond me.

A must have as an educator!

I am currently taking a graduate course in which we are participating in a book study of "Reaching the Wounded Student." Joe Hendershott, the author, points out how self-esteem is a key component of the wounded student. "Cassandra's Angel" is a great book to share with your students to show the importance of self-esteem. I highly recommend it for all teachers!

Cassandra's Angel is a Charmer!

Cassandra Angel is a moving story about a young, bright girl named Cassandra who must make some hard decisions about the way she is going to be treated by others- and how she's going to treat herself!

And though this book's heartfelt message is deep, one of the things I love most about it is it's sense of humor! The town characters crack me up, and the illustrations make me smile every time I look at them. I always walk away enlighten, uplifted, and laughing after I've read Cassandra's Angel - and that's not something I often say with kiddo's books. I don't want to give away too much, but just know you and your children and students are guaranteed some giggles along Cassandra's insightful journey!

for all ages, even infants..

This is a book that you will cherish from the infant years through adolescence. When we read Cassandra's Angel to our infant she was enthralled with the beautiful images and prose. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a timeless gift.

A Treasure To Share

Cassandra's Angel is a picture book wonderfully written in verse by Gina Otto and beautifully illustrated by Trudy Joost.

The story is about a little girl who is beautiful, creative and imaginative and desires to be accepted and understood. Often she encounters negative correction from adults and other children even though her actions are typical of any child.
Cassandra struggles to listen to the adults correction yet seeks to find encouragement of her true self.

The little girl meets an angel who confides to her a secret of what she should believe about herself. Cassandra then believes and carries that message with her to build a more positive realization of her true nature.
After reading this book I wanted to hug it and share it with as many children as possible.
It is a gentle correction to adults that we need to accept our children for the wonderful and creative beings that they are in our lives without judging or giving negative reinforcement that would cause self esteem damage.
I plan on sharing this book with my grand daughter so she may apply this powerful message from the secret to her life as well.
This book is for children from four to 104 and all will love looking at the illustration and the reading this book.

Cassandra's Angel

Cassandra's Angel is far beyond a children's book. I've never been so profoundly touched. I've purchased a copy for every child in my life and many of my adult friends. A must read! Endorsed by Marianne Williamson, Wayne Dyer and Leo Buscalgia, this book is sure to be a classic.

Cassandra's Angel

Last night I went to a book signing for Gina Otto at Barnes and Noble. I purchased three signed copies. I went home and read the story and just had to drive back to the store to purchase five more copies. What a wonderfully inspiring book! This is the best Christmas present I've ever given!

an adult's idea of what a child should read

I love sharing story books with my children and students. However, this 'story' seemed more like an adult self-esteem lecture wrapped in a children's book.
