Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Myrna Dee Marler
This book proclaims itself to be "totally unauthorized", which might lead the reader to believe all kinds of salacious and spicy details about the cast members of the movie are inside. However, the information on each actor/singer/dancer profiled is gleaned from various interviews in obscure newspapers, or the cast member's web page. While it is interesting to learn the stage experience of each character, the prose is written in breathless, puff piece style that tries to mimic "tween" speak. Probably the word "really" is the most frequently used word in this slim book and the exclamation marks are abundant! Young readers might find it interesting to discover how hard these young performers have worked to achieve their goals, but this book offers little of value to those interested in a performing arts career. Although it claims not to be associated with the movie, the content certainly gives every impression of being hype. Reviewer: Myrna Dee Marler
