It is ironic that other folks have said that this book was too fast paced - because that is exactly why I loved it. Keene is one of my favorite authors because he moves the story along so quickly. Never a boring chapter. This is a fun read! :)

I'm not sure what to say about this book. It wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't "great" either. It didn't capture me the way that I had hoped. Some books are too slow and leisurely. This book was just the opposite. It was too fast-paced, and therefore lacked any real suspense. It was simply brutal slaughter, lacking the psychological analysis that you would find in actual suspense novels, since these creatures lack a psychology that can really be explored too deeply. My biggest issue was that it lacked the "on the edge of my seat" terror and "creep factor" that I expect from a horror novel-- the fear that I seek. That's why I read horror. I want to be horrified, I want to be afraid to be alone for the night, jumping at every sound, checking the locks, and thinking about the merits of gun ownership. This book just didn't have that for me. Additionally something about the writing-style just didn't engage me. I don't know what it was. The book just didn't grab me and bring me into the story. I never really connected with the characters. Perhaps that is one of the reasons I was never very engaged. They remained somewhat superficial, without any real depth. I just didn't really "care" about them. I had high hopes for this story, and it fell short. I'm not giving up on Brian Keene, and will try another book or two by him to see if they are more what I'm looking for. But this book was just "okay".

Good read for a rainy day. Awesome book cover, good plot, keeps you on the edge. Some people don't mind it, but for me the profanity was a bit over the top. But overall the book kept my attention.

A little different for keene. A lot less gory and less suspenseful than his other novels. Seems like he just kind phoned this one in.

This was probably one of my favorite books from Brian Keene. I especially liked the ending, it was one of the better endings from his books. This book is short and fast paced but that's what I like about it, there's almost no boring scenes. He doesn't really give the characters much background and I like that because when of the characters dies, I don't really feel sorry for them. Overall, I think this was a really good book. I've read almost everything from Brian Keene.

This is a great book. I could hardly put it down. Even though it was a fast paced story I still really got into the characters as Keene seems to be able to always create likable characters quickly. Loved it.

I really liked this book, wish it would have been a bit longer though. If this is what it would be like to be on Survivor - no thanks!! LOL Good, fast read. (You will come to love one of the characters!)

I will admit this book really keeps you on your toes and wondering what will happen next. The characters were interesting, and the whole book pretty much is in touch with what people are watching on reality TV now. I'm just glad what happens to the people in the story won't be happening in real life....or could it?
